"The Simpsons" is now more than 30 years old, and many fans still hold the show in high regard. But did you know that the franchise is more than just a TV show?

As per Nintendo World Report, Radical Entertainment created a game in 2003 that perfectly captures the atmosphere of the successful television show. The Simpsons: Hit and Run borrowed extensively from the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series and adds a hearty dose of fun, speeding into Springfield.

What Is the General Storyline of The Simpsons: Hit and Run?

The plot begins with the discovery of hidden cameras and strange black vans spying on Springfield's citizens. Over the course of seven stages, players take control of Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, and Apu in an attempt to find the secret behind these alarming signs.

On top of that, Nintendo World Report said that the gameplay is "ripped" right out of GTA, with players being able to jump into any car on the street, beat up passers-by, and dodge the cops after causing too much mayhem.

Each level has seven main objectives, such as racing other characters, collecting and delivering products, and even wrecking other vehicles on the road. In addition, each level contains a bonus task, three additional races, and a plethora of items to uncover and acquire.

Hit and Run Is The Best Simpsons Game For These Reasons

Some of the reasons why Game Rant thinks The Simpson: Hit and Run is the best Simpsons game are stated below:

Hit and Run Has a Big Selection of Vehicles

In a vehicle-centric game, the player must have a large number of vehicles from which to pick. While each character has their own distinctive "starter" automobile, each level can unlock up to seven vehicles, the majority of which can be utilized at any level once acquired.

Hit and Run Has Side Missions

What good is a game based on the GTA series if it doesn't have side missions? While the player isn't focused on the main plot, they might notice certain Springfield residents on the street corners seeking assistance.

The player can also compete in street races organized by the DMV's Patty and Selma. A time trial, a lap race versus four vehicles, and a one-lap, long-distance race against four opponents are among the races available.

Hit and Run Has the So-Called Halloween Level

Everything has gone wrong in the final level, as the aliens have poisoned the water supply with Buzz Cola, and the dead are rising from their graves. The final level takes place on Halloween, which is suitable for the plot.

The church has been burned down, and the wealthy district has erected barricades to prevent zombies from entering. It's the ideal location for a confrontation with Kang and Kodos, who must be defeated by delivering nuclear waste to their mothership. The eerie music used throughout the level adds to the atmosphere while also raising the game's stress.

Pros and Cons of The Simpsons: Hit and Run

The pros and cons of Hit and Run are outlined below by Nintendo World Report:

Hit and Run Pros

  • "Finest" Simpsons game ever created.
  • Playing GTA-style provides you a sense of freedom.
  • You'll be laughing out loud thanks to the original writers and voices.

Hit and Run Cons

  • The linear mission structure becomes extremely repetitive.
  • The frame rate will occasionally drop out, and there are some minor clipping issues.
