Apple Releases iOS 15.5 RC to Beta Testers — What New Features Does It Have?

Apple beta testers can now try out the final candidate versions of Apple's latest iOS and iPadOS upgrades.

According to a report from Macrumors, the Cupertino-based tech giant recently seeded the release candidate versions of its upcoming iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 update to developers and public beta testers for testing.

The final candidate versions of Apple's iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 updates are the fifth beta round of the two operating systems, while the fourth was previously released a week ago, per Apple Insider.

Apple iOS 15.5 And iPadOS 15.5 RC Additions

Macrumors' report mentioned that 15.5's "final candidate" versions came with minor updates compared to its predecessors, along with a handful of changes.

These new minor additions include Apple Wallet enabling customers to send and request money from their Apple Cash card anytime, according to 9to5Mac.

The final candidate version also included fixes to an issue where home automation may fail when they are triggered by people arriving or leaving, and a new setting in Apple Podcasts that limit episodes stored on your iPhone while automatically deleting older ones, which helps you save storage.

The final candidate versions will most likely include the Apple Classical app, as there are references to it in the beta. However, the app is not yet available for beta at this time.

The Apple Classical app is allegedly the successor of Primephonic, a classical music service Apple purchased and shortly shut down last year, according to a separate MacRumors report.

According to Apple, the app will allow users, especially fans of classical music, to listen to their favorite classical songs on-demand which experiencing a "more pleasant listening experience." This experience is largely due to the app allegedly combining Primephonic's user interface and insight into classical music with Apple Music's lossless and spatial audio.

The Apple Classical app will be added as part of Apple Music and will be launched as a standalone app, presumably in iOS 15.5.

Finally, the final candidate version will also have an addition to the Home app that displays Wi-Fi signal indicators for the HomePod.

Apple iOS 15.5 And iPadOS 15.5 Release Date

The "release candidate" or "final candidate" name usually indicates that the iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 currently under beta testing will be the final beta before it is released to everyone.

As such, iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 are expected to be released to the general public before long, with most publications like 9to5Mac expecting the update to arrive sometime next week.

This release date is also confirmed by analyst Edward Ferguson on their Twitter account, saying that iOS 15.5 (along with iPadOS 15.5) will be released to the public next week.

However, it is important to remember not to install beta software on your primary devices if you're among those beta testing iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15; there is a small possibility of you experiencing data loss or other issues when you install the current build for iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5.
