The wait is over!

Google Assistant Can Be Finally Launched From Galaxy Watch 4

Google Assistant for Wear OS 3 can be launched from the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic's app menu. But you can also use voice commands to open Google Assistant or reprogram the watches' home button as a shortcut, as per The Verge's report.

When the Wear OS 3 was first announced, Google and Samsung promised that the unified platform would give Samsung smartwatch users more choice in apps.

Previously, the only digital assistant that Samsung's smartwatches could offer is Bixby. The concept was that Wear OS 3 would allow consumers to select between Bixby and Google Assistant.

Since the watch's launch last year, Google Assistant has been absent from the Galaxy Watch 4. However, despite the frustrations of users, Google and Samsung continued to be vague about when Assistant would arrive, saying little more than "coming soon," said The Verge.

Now, it was clear that the wait was finally coming to an end. A teaser video was uploaded by Samsung to YouTube showing Assistant on the Galaxy Watch 4. Then, immediately after the Google I/O keynote earlier this month, Samsung confirmed that Google Assistant was arriving "this summer."

It's not even officially summer yet but Assistant is already available on the Galaxy Watch 4. It came earlier than expected, which is a delight to Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 users.

What's New With the Google Assistant in Wear OS 3?

Using Google Assistant, Galaxy Watch 4 users will be able to gain access to fast, more natural voice interactions, quick answers to questions and on-the-go help.

In February, Google gave the first official look at Assistant running on Galaxy Watch 4. It launches with "Hey Google" and opens a full screen UI with black background and four-color light bar at the bottom that reacts to voice input, according to 9to5google.

With a "Hi, how can I help?" prompt, the Assistant logo also briefly appears, while the time appears curved at the top. Aside from that, the results UI has also been modernized, which comes with background blur leveraged throughout.

Google promotes that the Assistant in Galaxy Watch 4 has "faster than ever response times." According to 9to5google, voice transcription seems to be processed on-device and appears near instantaneously.

To access the Google Assistant, Galaxy Watch 4 users are simply asked to update a new "Assistant" app that appears in the Google Play > My apps list. But you can also search for it in the on-watch Play Store.

Google Assistant will appear as a new icon in the app launcher after downloading the latest version.

Launching will prompt you to "Activate Google Assistant on your watch," with users directed to their phone to complete the fairly lengthy process, according to 9to5google.

Google Assistant will be available in 10 markets and will support 12 languages.
