OnePlus Conducts Survey in an Effort To Improve OxygenOS and Please Community

When Oppo revamped OxygenOS in the image of its own ColorOS as part of its corporate streamlining efforts, there was an unexpected backlash from users.

However, the plan for a single, unified OS was unsuccessful.

Both Android skins are currently working off the same codebase, but it seems like OnePlus needs some help trying to get OxygenOS back into the groove again.

A New Survey Was Launched To Know What the Users Want

According to OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau, OxygenOS 13 would be a collaboration between the OnePlus community and Google.

This weekend, the company released a new survey asking what people want out of their operating system.

In the survey, users will be asked to describe the best and worst features they've tried. Users will also have to rank aspects such as multicultural inclusiveness, and language adaptation, specifically, against intuitive operation or a close-to-native feel.

The feedback will be taken into consideration as the staff further develops the platform.

It is presumed that replies to the survey announcement on the OnePlus forums aren't counted into the mix.

According to Android Police, it is full of people asking the company to bring back the old OxygenOS and to remove the caustic, bug-ridden taste of OxygenOS 12 out of their mouths.

OxygenOS Guide: What You Need to Know About OnePlus Android Skin

OxygenOS is a breath of fresh air when it first came out. Back in 2015, many Android skins were bloated and ugly messes but OnePlus' skin was simple and refined.

OnePlus has added more features to the skin over the years. The new features cut down a bit on its simple nature. Still, OxygenOs is a good option if you want an Android skin that keeps things relatively simple while still bringing in plenty of features for power users, according to Android Authority.

But OnePlus is changing its Android skin in big ways. Moving forward, the core code of OxygenOS will be integrated with the code of Oppo's Color OS. This will alter the way Oxygen OS looks, feels, and functions as compared to the past, as per the Android Authority report.

One of the features of OxygenOS is the Zen Mode. This is exclusive to OnePlus phones. The Zen Mode locks you out of your phone for a certain period of time, and even a reboot won't stop it. The result is that you can't use your phone at all (except for emergency calls and taking photos) until Zen Mode stops.

OxygenOS has a number of custom AODs. One of the custom AODs it has is Insight. It shows a timeline of your unlocks right on the screen at all times. This should make you conscious of how much you are using your phone.

OnePlus has Enhanced Dark Mode, which dynamically changes contrast and readjusts color tones to allow for easy reading.

OxygenOS offers dynamically changing wallpapers. Your wallpaper will change to something new at certain points throughout the day.

OxygenOS offers a custom font created by OnePlus called OnePlus Sans. The font is very simple. It has straight lines and similarities to Helvetica. And if you don't like it, then you can still stick with Android's standard font if you don't like OnePlus Sans.
