Samsung Galaxy Golden flip phone images leak

Samsung is getting ready to bring a new Galaxy smartphone into the world. Images of the company's Android flip phone have leaked and it will reportedly be called the Galaxy Golden.

Samsung is a company who is not afraid to take some big chances on smartphones. The original Galaxy Note was initially deemed a thud due to its large display and many didn't think consumers would want a smartphone that was the size of a small tablet. Samsung has gone on to sell millions of phablets and its Galaxy Note 3 is one of the most anticipated smartphone to be released this year. The company got it right with the Galaxy Note and now it's going to try making it with flip phones.

There are many people who still use old-school flip phones. They enjoy its ergonomic design while speaking on it and enjoy flipping it open to answer and closing to hang up on calls. It's a familiar feeling and Samsung is hoping that by offering a flip phone running Android, it will offer that demographic of first-time smartphone buyers the experience and comfort they are used to, which can only be captured with that design.

We reported a few days ago that Samsung was going to call the smartphone the Galaxy Folder. Images of the smartphone have leaked and it will now reportedly be called the Galaxy Golden, possibly due to its gold color touches throughout the handset.

According to the latest reports, the Galaxy Golden will feature two 3.67-inch AMOLED WVGA (800 x 480) displays. Users will be able to interact with the home screen on the display while the handset is closed and use the inner screen when flipped open. It will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and pack a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The flip phone will also have 16GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot, and 2GB of RAM. In terms of wireless capabilities there's a 4G LTE radio, Bluetooth 4,0, GPS, and NFC. Like most of Samsung's smartphones, it will come with a removable battery with a capacity of 1,820 mAh.

The Galaxy Golden will be released later this month in China and Samsung is not disclosing what other markets will get to see the handset.
