As per a news story by The Verge, the Cupertino-based tech giant introduced its entry-level external display last March 2022.
While Apple is not entirely new in the display market, the Studio Display marks the return of the iPhone maker since it debuted the Pro Display XDR way back in 2020.
The Apple monitor in 2020 costs a whopping $4,999, making it unaffordable for most users. But, the all-new Studio Display comes with a cheaper price tag of $1,599.
Yes, it is still a bit more expensive than most entry-level offerings, but it is relatively cheaper than the Apple Pro Display XDR.

While it is supposed to sell for only $1,599, its online listing on websites like eBay now fetches extreme prices.
Apple Studio Display Resale Price
According to a recent report by 9to5Mac, a listing from a reseller on eBay now sells the entry-level Studio Display for a whopping $2,999. The markup is more than a thousand dollars of its retail price.
Sure, there are cheaper resale options, fetching roughly $2,800, but it is still far from its supposed pricing.
9to5Mac notes that if you are lucky enough, you can stumble upon resale prices as low as $2,000.
These eBay listings indicate that the Studio Display is still in "new" condition, but its price is more expensive than getting its brand new straight from the Apple Store.
But why has it gotten to this? Is the shortage really that bad?
