'Despicable Me 3's' Song 'Hug Me' Earns Repute on TikTok, Speed Up Version Gains 450,000 Uses

"Hug Me," a well-known song for the kids' movie Despicable Me 3, written and sung by South Park co-creator/Despicable Me 3 voice actor Trey Parker and Pharrell Williams, made a hit on the video hosting service TikTok. This 2 minutes and 20 seconds enthusiastic song will inspire people to wrap their arms around people or things near them.

The "Despicable Me 3," which was released in 2017, revolves around Gru (Steve Carrell), his new wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig), an 80's kid star Balthazar "Evil" Bratt (Trey Parker), who is seeking revenge after his TV show was canceled, and Gru's heretofore-unknown twin brother Dru (also Carrell).

The story opens with the scene of Gru and his wife coming against the vicious Evil Bratt, who is trying to steal the largest diamond in the world. This was Gru's very first mission after being inspired by his three adopted children to quit his super villain life and join the Anti-Villainy League (AVL) with his wife, Lucy.

Through the aid of a robot sidekick, scientifically enhanced bubble gum, and a keytar capable of playing the most familiar musical riffs of his favorite era, Evil Bratt tried to keep his hands to the diamond. Despite Gru and Lucy's luck at getting the diamond back, both had, unfortunately, missed the fiendish and were fired by AVL's new head immediately.

The "Despicable Me 3's" story went on to Gru and Dru's (Gru's twi brother) bond and heist, Lucy's struggle with her role as the mother of Gru's children, and Gru's toil towards catching Bratt to be reinstated in AVL.
