FedEx Will Take a Photo of Your Package as Proof of Delivery

FedEx Corp. is strengthening the power of its e-commerce services.

Package that will be received without a signature will be photographed by FedEx to provide a proof of delivery. This applies for express and ground residential deliveries in the U. S. and Canada.

By simply tracking your package, you will receive a picture showing the exact location of your package once it is delivered at your doorstep.

FedEx is the First National Carrier to Offer Picture Proof of Delivery

The picture proof of delivery does not require an account or login in the FedEx Delivery Manager, the company's free portal. Among the nationwide carriers, FedEx Express and FedEx Ground are the first to announce that they will provide picture proof of delivery.

"This is something e-commerce merchants and customers have been asking for, and we are proud to be the first to announce this service will be available to residential customers," Brie Carere, Chief Customer Officer of FedEx, said in a press release.  

Furthermore, Carere added that: "Receiving visual confirmation that the package has arrived gives peace of mind to both merchants and consumers, and we are thrilled to give them that confidence."

The picture proof of delivery is an ideal service for large retailers and small businesses to compete in today's challenging environment. It is going to be free, and easily accessible through FedEx tracking tools. It will also not require enrollment.

You can check the FedEx Delivery Manager for the picture proof of delivery as it will be available soon to users in select markets. And just in time for the busy holiday shipping season, it will be followed by a general release in the United States and Canada. 

Using the FedEx Delivery Manager, you can always take control of your deliveries. According to Business Wire, "it empowers users to customize home deliveries to fit their schedules, redirect deliveries to alternative delivery locations, or even leave instructions for the courier."

The app will also enable you to select preferred delivery instructions. You will also receive a notification when your package is delivered along with a photo of the package.

Proof of Delivery Program Protects FedEx, Business Owners

The proof of delivery will protect FedEx. The program will also help business owners, particularly those who have customers that report that their package hasn't been delivered, as there will be evidences showing that the parcel was, in fact, delivered to one's doorstep. 

Moreover, the program will be a good means for customers to know out whether or not packages ever made it to their doorstep.

A similar program called Photo On Delivery was rolled out by Amazon in 2018. The program was intended to provide proof of delivery. It also after helping customers locate their packages. However, it was only available in certain areas. 

Amazon said that the program allowed them to use the images "to verify a package's location, perform quality control, and investigate any issues raised by a customer," according to The Verge. However, if you didn't want photos of your packages taken,  you are allowed to opt out of the program.

Using FedEx's tracking tool, customers without a FedEx account will be able to view their image . You only have to enter your tracking number. But, if you have an account, you can view it through the FedEx Delivery Manager.
