As technology improves over time, tech giants except Apple are working on Metaverse Standards Forum for a standardized virtual world. The non-profit consortium group, Khronos, will be hosting the said tech forum.

Tech Giants Unite for Metaverse Open Standards Developement

As the technology industry continues to magnify, several tech companies are starting to develop virtual and augmented reality products. Some management groups are looking forward to keeping the industry on one accord. Tech giants are organizing regulatory forums to manage and standardize a virtual world that looks like a colossal clutter today.

Thirty companies, including Facebook's parent Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, Sony, Adobe, Unity, and Autodesk, have united to build an interoperable Metaverse. This symposium aspires to facilitate "the development of open standards for the Metaverse."

The Metaverse Standards Forum that aims to drive open interoperability makes developers' capability in building across platforms more manageable. As per the announcements on June 22, the forum already has some principal partakers on board. This includes Meta, Microsoft, Epic Games, Adobe, Nvidia, Sony, Unity, and others.

However, the companies like Niantic, Apple, Roblox, and Snapchat are among some of the apparent nonattendances,

which are building consumer "metaverse" products as well. Regardless, the free-to-join forum will center on pragmatic, action-based projects such as hackathons and open-source tooling.

A standardized virtual space foreshadows a generation of an open and inclusive virtual world where no metaverse is out of the way, separated from others. It would be easier to impeccably integrate assets and features and enable transactions between various metaverses.

The vice president and fellow of AR at Adobe, Stefano Corazza, stated that the computer software company is excited to join the marvelous feat behind the forum. Marc Petit, general manager of Epic Games, also said that the corporation's goal is to create an accessible metaverse that encourages and enriches millions of creators.

Moreover, Metaverse at Meta's vice president, Vishal Shah, kids that a standard protocol will be foundational in generating a metaverse for everyone, and the Metaverse Standard Forums can drive the collaboration.

The technology company, Nvidia's Rev Lebaredian, regards that the open standards for the present-day 2D web are also crucial for the 3D web that is the Metaverse. Also, Nvidia's Neil Trevett has imparted a warm welcome to any company, including crypto platforms, to connect in the discussion.

Khronos to Host Metaverse Standards Forum, Apple Skips the Forum

Tech Cupertino-based technology giant, Apple, is noticeably absent in the Metaverse Standards Forum, as it has been working on its virtual reality headsets. Apple's developing VR headsets will directly compete with Meta.

The Oasis Consortium is missed by some key players, like Meta, similar to Metaverse Standards Forum that will be without Apple. Before, parties like this have become smaller and smaller once interior competitions inevitably arise.

The Khronos Group, a nonprofit consortium working on AR/VR, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and more, will be hosting the Metaverse Standards Forum. Khronos has already tried to set a standard for VR APIs with its similarly named VR Standards Initiative in 2016. Companies like Google, Nvidia, Epic Games, and Oculus, now part of Meta, were present during Khronos' VR Standards Initiatives.
