The white version of the Nexus 4 has arrived at UK retailer Expansys with a price tag of £309.99 (after taxes).
Google revealed the Nexus 4 in Oct. 2012 and the smartphone made its way to shelves in November. However, the handset was initially available only in a black color option.
The Nexus 4 was one of the most-wanted Android smartphones in end-2012 and it sold out on the GooglePlay store in the U.S. and the UK in just a few hours. The handset touted top-end features and was available at a very competitive price point. However, since the launch, the Nexus 4 has remained embroiled in controversies due to supplies issues. In the U.S., the white version of the handset was also launched for limited period but is not available via the Google Play store anymore.
Many smartphones customers would have given up hope that the white Nexus 4 will arrive in the UK. Even though the handset is not available directly from the UK Google Play store, it can now be purchased from UK retailer Expansys. The price of the 16GB version of the handset is £258.33 (before taxes). Moreover, the retailer is also offering international delivery of the handset. If you want the handset delivered in the U.S. then you'll have to pay £26.95 as shipping charges. This means the total cost of the handset if delivered to the U.S. gooes up to £285.28 (approximately $443.49).
The Nexus 4 is still liked by many Android enthusiasts and the white variant of the handset may also attract some customers looking to buy a new smartphone.
However, many top-end smartphones such as the Sony Xperia Z, Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and others that have launched this year have better hardware specifications when compared to the Nexus 4.
Moreover, rumors also suggest that the next-generation Nexus 5 may also debut in the latter half of this year, along with the much-awaited Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. The white Nexus 4 may find it difficult to attract a large number of customers. However, with limited stock on offer we may see the handset sold out within a short span.
