Combining Leica's in-depth knowledge of optics, image processing, and image quality with Xiaomi's extensive experience in smartphone computing photography, the new Xiaomi 12S Series was officially introduced as being "co-engineered with Leica," according to Manila Bulletin.

12S Series Camera

As the top model, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra primary camera uses an 8P aspheric lens. In addition, the camera module of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra includes anti-glare lens coating, lens edge ink coating, cyclic olefin copolymer material, and an infrared light filter with spin coating technology to address common photography issues like ghosting, flare, and chromatic aberration.

The Sony IMX989 1′′ sensor, used in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, implements a Quad-Bayer pixel array with individual pixel sizes reaching 1.6μm. Manila Bulletin reported that this is the first Android device to offer Dolby Vision HDR video recording and playback. HyperOIS is also used by the Xiaomi 12S Ultra to provide ultra-stable performance and continuous movement compensation during video shooting.

Sony's IMX707, which has a big sensor size and huge pixels at 1/1.28" and 2 and 2.44μm after pixel binning, is the primary sensor used in the Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro. These sensors are capable of quick startup, capture, and continuous capturing thanks to Xiaomi AI Image Solution and Xiaomi ProFocus.
