Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 (3G) now receiving Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update

The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software update has now started rolling out to the 3G version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.

The software update is currently available for the Galaxy Note 8.0 users in Germany and is expected to reach other countries soon. You can get Android 4.2 Jelly Bean over-the-air (OTA) and also via Samsung KIES.

Samsung revealed the Galaxy Note 8.0 in February this year at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona and the tablet was released in the U.S. in April.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 packs in impressive features, which include an 8.0 inch PLS LCD with WXGA display with 1280 × 800 pixels resolution and 189 pixels per inch (ppi). A 1.6 GHz quad-core processor powers the device. The tablet is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash, as well as a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The Galaxy Note 8.0 has 16/32GB of on-board storage and an option to expand that to a further 64GB via microSD. The tablet comes pre-loaded with Android 4.1.2 and a 4,600 mAh battery fuels the device.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean has started to reach many Android devices and Galaxy Note 8.0 customers will be happy enough to get the software update.

The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update will bring along a number of new features and improvements to the Galaxy Note 8.0. The newer version of the software improves on the speed and simplicity of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The update also features an all new Photo Sphere and redesigned camera app for a better picture taking experience.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for Galaxy Note 8.0 will also feature battery power level and toggle menu in the status bar, improved task switching, an updated keyboard and many small bug fixes and refinements. In the TouchWiz UX, users will also find a number of new features such as improved launcher, weather widget and new lock screen with widgets support similar to what is seen in the Samsung Galaxy S4.

The software update will also bring the popular Daydream functionality, which "allows apps to display interactive screensavers - like a photo album or a Currents stream when your tablet or phone isn't being used," according to Android.

If you own the Galaxy Note 8.0, have you received the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update on your tablet?
