Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 now available for just a penny

A new deal from Amazon is offering the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 for the low price of a penny upon signing a new 2-year contract.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 was the smartphone that can be credited with bringing Samsung to the same level with Apple in the smartphone world. The company knew it needed to create a smartphone that would not only stand tall above all other Android smartphones but it needed to be a worthy alternative to Apple's iPhone. The company succeeded by building a thin and powerful handset that quickly became the smartphone of choice among Android fans and consumers. The device has sold over 50 million units and Samsung continues to provide updates to the device, aiming to bring the latest and greatest version of Android to the Galaxy S3. There have already been leaked builds of Android 4.3 for the Galaxy S3 spotted, so an update should be coming soon.

The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 features a 4.8-inch, 1280 x 720 resolution Super AMOLED HD display with a pixel density of 306 pixels per inch (ppi). The smartphone ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (is upgraded out of the box to Android 4.1.2) and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. The handset includes 16GB of internal memory and 2GB of RAM. It comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with zero shutter lag, LED Flash, and 1080p video capture. The 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera can capture 720p HD video capture. As far as wireless connectivity goes, it includes a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. You'll be able to increase the internal storage by using the microSD slot, which allows you to insert and use up to 64GB microSD cards. The Galaxy S3 also includes a 2,100 mAh removable battery.

You can purchase the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 from Amazon for $0.01 when signing a new 2-year contract. The retailer is also including free two-day shipping at checkout. The Galaxy S3 may not be the newest flagship smartphone from Samsung, but it's still a popular choice and the $0.01 price tag should make it even more appealing.
