[RUMOR] NVIDIA’s Upcoming GPU Might Only Have One Model This Year

Those who want a cheaper, mid-range version of NVIDIA's upcoming graphics cards might have to wait a little longer.

Hardware leaker Greymon55 recently revealed on their official Twitter page that NVIDIA might release only one model from its latest GPU series, the GeForce RTX 4000, per PCGamesN.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 series, which is currently advertised as the company's best graphics card, is expected to hit store shelves later this year, per Tom's Guide.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 One Model Only Details

A hardware leaker going by the Twitter handle Greymon55 recently revealed that NVIDIA will only release one model from its GeForce RTX 400 GPU series, which is due to launch later this year, specifically in November or December.

The hardware leaker mentioned in his tweet that only one model of the AD102 would be released this year, which is likely to be the RTX 4090 rather than the rumored NVIDIA RTX 4090 Ti.

The RTX 4090i was reported to be capable of allegedly running the game Control at 4K in 160fps with ray tracing and DLSS enabled, per a separate PCGamesN report.

This leak, if true, is not good news for those who are looking to get a cheaper, mid-range version of NVIDIA's supposed best graphics card to date as it means they'll either have to choose between buying the RTX 4090 on day one or wait for a long time for a mid-range version, which could be released after a few more years.

The reason for the possible delay for mid-range RTX 4000 GPUs is due to the ongoing skydiving of NVIDIA GPU prices after crypto miners around the world have begun selling their mining GPUs due to the "crypto winter" going on.

Thanks to the sudden influx of NVIDIA GPUs, NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti GPUS is now 16% below its previous suggested retail price. The same is true for NVIDIA's competitor, AMD.

AMD recently saw a 4% decrease in the price of its RX 6950 XT GPU thanks to the sudden influx, allowing more people other than crypto miners to enjoy high-quality graphics.

with more NVIDIA mid-range GPUs becoming more available than before the crypto winter, the company may have thought that releasing a mid-range version of the RTX 4000 GPU series is unnecessary at the moment.

Additionally, NVIDIA might want the delay in the first place to protect the profitability of its next-gen GPUs.

NVIDIA RTX 4000 GPU Series Details

Although there is not as much information about NVIDIA's upcoming GPUs, GPU Mag reports that there are some leaks about it, with the only concrete information being its codename: Ada Lovelace.

According to the leaks, NVIDIA's upcoming GPU will have a microarchitecture of a 5nm fabrication process, which is smaller than Samsung's 8nm Ampere chips.

A smaller microarchitecture means that the GPU will deliver an even better performance using less power than its predecessor.

The RTX 4090 is also rumored to be capable of boosting up to 2520 MHz or even 2750 MHZ, which is a significant upgrade to the RTX 3090's boosts, which could only reach 1695 MHz or 3000MHz when being overclocked, according to Tech Powerup.
