How To Change The Notification Sounds on Your iPhone

Apple's notification sounds and ringtones for its iPhone devices can be pretty common and have limited options.

A lot of you might get triggered to neglect your alarm for being so used to the alarm sound. Or maybe some of you might just be picky about your alert sounds and ringtones.

Some of us just have preferences since using the same ringtone can get boring. With that, here are the steps to help you spice up and insert weird sounds or your favorite song as a ringtone on your iPhone.

Customizing your own sound notifications can give you a personalized feel for your iPhone.

How To Change Notification Sound

According to The Verge, here is how to change the ringtone sound of your calendar alerts, mail, and text messages:

  • First, you just need to go to the Settings menu and select Sounds & Haptics.

  • Second, to modify the alert tone for a specific task, tap the task in question.

  • Third, scroll down to see the selection of ringtones or alert tones that are available, this could include longer and shorter sound clips.

  • Lastly, there is a Classic sub-menu that may be found at the very bottom of each list. If you tap on it, you will hear some classic noises that you probably haven't heard in a very long time. Then, select the tone you chose.

However, when you want to change the alarm tone on your iPhone, changing it might be a little different. To change it,

  • Go to the clock app

  • Select the time of the alarm you want to change, then press Sound

  • After that, you will be able to access the same sounds and tones that are available. You will also have the option to change the sound or pick a song through Apple Music.

How To Add Custom Ringtones

You can use your own personal sounds or snippets of songs that you have purchased from the iTunes store to create ringtones for your phone's alarms and notifications.

  • Navigate to the Sound options within the Clock app. If you want to change anything else, navigate to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and select the alert that you wish to customize.

  • At the top of the page, you should find a shortcut that is labeled "Tone Store." If you click it, the iTunes Store will open up.

  • Then choose Tones.

There can be a lot of choices to choose from when you really want to change your notification sounds. However, it is important to note that some of the sound alerts are paid. The price range of these audio clips ranges from 99 cents to $1.29.

But if the idea of paying for a ringtone does not feel right to you, you can stick to the free ringtone options that Apple has provided for the iPhone.

If you select the sound option that does not have a price tag on it, you will not be charged for it.

Furthermore, if you choose the sound option that has a price tag on it, after you have made your purchase, choose Download All Purchased Tones to gain access to your purchased tone.

Once it has been downloaded, it will be placed at the very top of the ringtone list. Simply tap it to select a new ringtone for your alarm.
