Twitter Now Allows All Businesses to Display Location, Contact Info on Their Profiles

Twitter is rolling out a new feature that would benefit business owners globally.

The social media company made an announcement today that all businesses having professional accounts are now allowed to display their location address, hours of operation and additional contact information on their profiles.

The Location Spotlight feature began rolling out in June but only to a limited number of professional accounts. The feature was initially available only to users in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia, as per TechCrunch.

Now, according to 9to5Mac, Twitter is making the Location Spotlight feature available to any business account globally.

Twitter Rolls Out Location Spotlight Globally

While regular Twitter users can only include a URL and a brief location to their profile, those with business account will be able to put a phone number, email, and full address. You can find this extra information displayed just below the profile bio.

According to Twitter, the new feature also offers customers a means to reach businesses directly via phone, text, email or DMs, as per TechCrunch.

In addition to the location and contact information, a map of the business location can now be added to the business' profiles of those with professional account using Google Maps.

Directions to navigate to the business's physical location will be given to customers once they click the map.

If you'll notice, Twitter's Location Spotlight feature has similarities with business info cards on Google Maps. The new feature similarly displays information about the business, including its location, operating hours and contact info.

The launch of the Location Spotlight feature globally is likely giving Twitter the opportunity to provide its users with information about businesses directly on its platform, according to TechCrunch.

This move of the social media company is seen as a means to prevent users from clicking away from the platform and finding the said information on Google.

Other Features are Rolling Out on Twitter

In addition to Location Spotlight, Twitter also hinted some upcoming features for professional accounts. One of the features is a resource hub called the "Professional Home."

Professionals will be able to use the hub in tracking performance, discovering product offerings and driving performance. It will target users who want more insights to enhance their performance on Twitter.

According to Twitter, they will roll out Professional Home to all professional accounts globally in the coming weeks. Additional updates are expected to be available throughout the year.

Additionally, the social media company is providing a new monthly live workshop series called "Taking Care of Business."

Debuting this month, the series is created to aid professionals who are new on the platform to get a better understanding of the resources available on Twitter.

There will also be 10 courses that will roll out soon on Twitter Flight School. The courses will cover several topics, including learning how to establish a community of engaged followers.

Twitter first introduced Professional profiles last year. The option was made available to all users in March. A professional account or known as "Twitter for Professionals" provides brands and creators access to more tools to make their profile recognizable.
