Fans of the much-beloved second entry to Call of Duty's Modern Warfare series now have one good reason to get hyped.
Activision recently revealed to the public that the remake of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's (MWII) open beta will happen sometime in September, with PlayStation users being the first to try the game out.
The remake of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is set for release on October 28, 2022, for the Playstation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, per Games Radar.
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remake Details
Activision announced on the official Call of Duty website that the open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (MWII) will be made available for PlayStation players first, with early access beginning on Sept. 16 and 17 at 10 AM PT. Meanwhile, the rest of the PlayStation community following suit on Sept. 18 to 20 at 10 AM PT as well.
Meanwhile, early access for MWII will start on Sept. 22 to 23 on Xbox, Battle.net, and Steam at 10 AM PT, while the general public can get access to the game's open beta with crossplay enabled on Sept. 24 to 26 at 10 AM PT too.
If you want to play the game's open beta during early access, you'll have to pre-order the game first, according to a separate Activision announcement.
The open beta is expected to feature "a robust multiplayer experience" beyond the main 6v6 experience with various meticulously designed maps of different sizes and an "equally impressive" set of Modes, Progression experiences, and other aspects revealed at Activision's Call of Duty: Next event.

In addition to the open beta's various maps, modes, and progression experience, it will also feature a map based on the Marina Bay Grand Prix - a map where combat occurs within the race track's main infield.
Furthermore, MWII open beta players will be able to receive a variety of in-game rewards as thanks for participating in it. Players who have pre-ordered MWII's Vault Edition can use the following rewards during the Beta:
- All of the Red Team 141 Operators - Ghost, Farah, Price, and Soap, with each of them wearing a special masked outfit
- The FJX Cinder Weapon Vault
Other Content To Be Had At Call Of Duty: Next
Activision also mentioned that there will be "an unparalleled" intel drop at its upcoming Call of Duty: Next event, which consists of behind-the-scenes access to the innovations featured in MWII and various surprises.
The event is advertised as a showcasing of the Call of Duty franchise's immediate future that will also reveal information on the next Call of Duty: Warzone and its mobile version, currently known as Project Aurora.
It will also have a full MWII multiplayer reveal and various streamers playing the games in real-time.
The Verge mentioned that MWII players that are interested in getting an early access beta code could do so by snagging one from various streamers and YouTubers leading up to the beta's start date.
