Mini, Pokemon Collaborate on an All-Electric Concept Car That Lets You Hook Up Your Game Console

If you ever wanted a car that allows you to play Pokemon and even project it so not only you can see what you're doing, then we have some good news for you.

That's what gamers at Gamescom found on the event's opening night.

MINI has announced at Gamescom's opening night live event that it has partnered with Nintendo's The Pokemon Company to develop a Pikachu-themed concept electric vehicle (EV) that lets you play Pokemon and project it too.

MINI has not disclosed a general release date for the concept car in question due to its nature.

MINI mentioned in the announcement it posted on its website that it took its other concept vehicle, the Aceman, and "evolved" it.

This evolution added a new "Pokemon Mode" that would offer a glimpse of "what it could be like to take your game on the read in a never-before-seen immersive experience.

According to The Verge, Pokemon Mode is the car's ability to let you hook up your game console and project your gameplay from the front of the vehicle like a drive-in theater would for large crowds.

The vehicle comes equipped with an exterior projector to display your gameplay on whatever surface the car is parked in front of. It could even be used to watch your favorite movies like a makeshift drive-in theater.

However, the car's surroundings would have to be dark enough for the projection to be visible. Additionally, the surface of the front of the vehicle has to be flat enough for the projection to not look warped.

While this mode is in use, Pikachu will take over the vehicle's main display when the vehicle is turned on, while digital lightning bolts travel across the entire dashboard.

Unfortunately, MINI has yet to release the list of game consoles compatible with the Evolved Aceman's Pokemon Mode as the vehicle is only a concept at this point.

Nevertheless, it could be assumed that the Nintendo Switch would be the first on that list.

In addition to the vehicle's Pokemon Mode, its interior is filled with Pokemon, with Pikachu welcoming passengers from the central OLED display along with other visual effects extending all along the dashboard.

Evolved MINI Aceman At Gamescom

The Evolved MINI Aceman can be found at Gamescom, specifically in the merch area (Halle 5.2, Stand B10, D19). Interested Gamescom attendees can find another version of the car, which is presented in a life-sized Pokemon action figure packaging at MINI's booth as well.

Gamescom attendees can also take a seat inside the concept car and recharge their phones and batteries.

For those who have not bought tickets for this year's Gamescom, MINI has also developed a "Miniverse" that allows people to enjoy and experience the concept Pokemon EV in an interactive 3D world.

"Playfulness has always been in our blood at MINI, and we want to embrace gaming and the people who make it what it is," the company said on its website. "We cherish the never-ending joy of playing, so stay tuned for updates, because we're ready to PLAY ON."
