PlayStation will Keep Call of Duty Once Xbox, Activision Merges

In order to ensure that PlayStation gamers would not be left out of future Call of Duty games, Xbox said that it would continue to support Call of Duty on PlayStation after Microsoft's purchase of Activision.

Call of Duty Will Remain on PlayStation

After Microsoft announced that it would acquire Activision for $70 billion, Comic Books reported that Xbox is keeping Call of Duty in PlayStation once the acquisition officially happens. This was confirmed according to PlayStation Universe by Xbox at Microsoft's Head Phil Spencer, who noted that the next Call of Duty games would not exclude PlayStation gamers.

After the news of the acquisition emerged, many people were concerned that Call of Duty might follow in the footsteps of Halo and become an exclusive title for the Xbox platform.

On the contrary, Spencer said that Microsoft wanted to respect PlayStation's existing Call of Duty marketing connections and other arrangements. However, others were of the opinion that this wasn't conclusive enough to rule out the prospect of Call of Duty being an Xbox exclusive soon enough.

Additionally, in a blog post, he said that given the success of Minecraft on other platforms, the simultaneous release of Call of Duty titles on PlayStation and Xbox might be advantageous.

PlayStation has expressed some uncertainty over Xbox's acquisition of Activision, emphasizing the significance of Call of Duty,  yet, the founder of the rival platform believes that the agreement may encourage gamers to play Call of Duty on Xbox.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the next installment in the Call of Duty series, is scheduled to be released on October 29, 2022, for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One video game consoles.

Microsoft Launched a Windows 11 Tool That Manages Xbox Subscriptions

In line with the report regarding Xbox's preservation of Call of Duty after Microsoft's deal with Activision closes, the firm has also said that is testing a feature in Windows 11 that allows Xbox subscriptions to be managed from the Settings menu. Game Empress reported that in a blog post, Microsoft announced the launch and said the rollout had started.

Those who have access to the feature may use their console settings to check the status of their Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass, or Xbox Live Gold subscriptions.

Through this, users will be able to see the many benefits and extras that come with their current Xbox membership, in addition to the Xbox payment schedule that they are currently on.

Customers may also use the Xbox subscription management interface to change or modify their Xbox subscription plan, redeem gift card tokens, and keep track of subscription-related actions, according to Microsoft.

In addition, they may also find a comparable selection of tools and information on the administration portal for Microsoft 365 subscriptions. Thanks to the new Xbox function, they will no longer need to leave the comforts of their couches or open a web browser to register a Microsoft account or change their subscription.

The announcement comes a little over a month after Microsoft shared with Windows Insiders that the company was experimenting with an Xbox Game Pass widget.

The feature, which is being tested in Ireland and Colombia, lets users share material with up to four friends or family members. Xbox Friends & Family members may access all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate features. In addition to a collection of titles that is constantly being updated with new entries, these capabilities also include multimedia streaming through the cloud.
