AirPods Pro 2 May Officially be Revealed by Apple This Week

The second generation of Apple AirPods are expected to be revealed at this week's "Far Out" event.

On Wednesday, Apple will hold one of the biggest tech events of the year called "Far Out," in which the brand is set to reveal the new iPhone 14, Apple Watch Pro, and the new AirPods. Many Apple fans have speculated that the brand will unveil the AirPods Pro 2 sometime this year, but now there is more solid evidence that the company is actually doing so.

"The new AirPods Pro will update a model that first went on sale in October 2019," Apple tracker Mark Gurman wrote in Power On newsletter, as per The Verge. Gurman previously reported that the Apple AirPods Pro 2 would arrive this year and has been told that "Wednesday will be their big unveiling."

What to Expect in Apple's AirPods Pro 2

Unlike its predecessors, the Apple AirPods Pro 2 is set to come with a slew of new upgrades both internally and externally. In terms of physicality, 9to5Mac reported earlier this year that the AirPods Pro 2 will feature an in-ear wing tip design that other users can find in the Beats Fit Pro from 2021.

Internally, the Apple AirPods Pro 2 is expected to support Apple's Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC), which addresses the sound quality limitations of the more traditional Bluetooth connection. These in-ear pieces may also come with an array of health management functions as one of its newer selling points. Lastly, the Apple AirPods Pro 2 will be neatly packaged in a charging case that will alert users with a sound when it is searched for using Apple's Find My app.

Apple to Unveil Several New Products on September 7

Wednesday's event will reportedly see Apple unveiling a number of new models for its iPhones, watches, and iPads aside from the AirPods Pro 2. According to The Guardian, Apple's newest iPhones will most likely come in two lines, the iPhone 14 Pro and the more affordable iPhone 14 which will come in two sizes as well.

The regular iPhone 14 is expected to have the typical A15 Bionic chips, which are used in the iPhone 13, but the iPhone 14 Pro is set to have the newer A16 Bionic chips. Also coming to the iPhone 14 are "always-on screens" which enable locked screens to dim but not shut off entirely.

Meanwhile, the brand is also set to introduce the Apple Watch Series 8, which will look like its predecessor but will have an S8 chip inside to offer better performance than the S7 chip, MacRumors reported. Apple is also supposed to unleash the more expensive Apple Watch Pro, which may come with a different name and bigger size than the Apple Watch Series 7. Finally, the Apple Watch SE is also expected to make a debut and show off its faster processor.

Finally, Apple's low-cost 10th generation iPad is also set to make an appearance this Wednesday, showing off its rumored flat edges and rounded corners and faster A14 chip with 5G connectivity on its 10.5-inch display with thicker bezels and a single-lens rear camera.
