Samsung has finally let the cat out of the bag and has announced pricing details for the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smartwatch in the UK.

Samsung recently launched the successor to its best-selling Galaxy Note 2 phablet, the Galaxy Note 3 and it's first-ever smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, at the IFA. However, the devices will cost a pretty penny and is quite expensive, especially when compared to the U.S.

Both the devices are now up for pre-order on the Samsung Experience store and the unlocked model of the Galaxy Note 3 is quite steep.

The Galaxy Note 3 sports a £649 price tag (approximately $1,015), whereas the Galaxy Gear smartwatch will set consumers back by £299 (approximately $467). Samsung is also offering a bundle of the two new devices, for which consumers will need to shell out £848 (approximately $1,325) - a savings of £100.

By comparison, consumers in the U.S need to shell out a lot less for the unlocked Galaxy Note 3. U.S. carrier Verizon had listed the smartphone for $699.99, whereas AT&T has priced it at $724.99, which is still considerably cheaper when compared to the UK prices.

While none of the carriers have the Galaxy Gear smartwatch listed separately, Verizon is offering a bundle of both the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear off-contract for $999.98. This means that the smartwatch is priced approximately around the $300 mark, making it considerably cheaper than the £299 (roughly $467) price in the UK.

However, in a bid to appease customers, Samsung UK is offering a £50 exchange discount to the first 500 customers who walk into its Experience Stores at Westfield Stratford and trade in their old device. Consumers have the option of trading in any old device, irrespective of whether it is functional or not.

The Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch are set to hit the UK shelves on Sept. 25. However, with such steep pricing consumers may be swayed by competing devices or opt for third-party retailers who might offer more reasonable prices.
