If you're a comic book geek, then you'll know that Marvel and DC have been battling it out since anyone can remember. Readers and watchers alike have been comparing heroes, antiheroes, and villains between the two comics companies.

In terms of availability and timetable for publishing online, DC is playing its cards right. The DC Universe is upgrading its subscription services by adding a new tier called Ultra, as mentioned in an article by The Verge. Perhaps, this was released to compete with Marvel's annual subscription perks.

What Does the Ultra Tier Subscription Offer?

The digital comics service will add 5000 more comics in their service, which are all exclusive comic books from DC Balck Label, Vertigo, and collected Editions. This is in addition to the 25,000 comic books that are already on the service.

Ultra Tier subscribers will also be given the chance to receive one free physical comic book, specifically The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition. For die-hard fans, they would be especially enthusiastic about the fact that Blackest Night artist Ivan Reis designed the cover.

On top of that, the subscription will let readers access newly published comics just one month after release as opposed to other subscription which releases digital copies six months after publication, according to IGN.

Given that the new subscription offers a lot more than the standard, it will also be more expensive. The promotional price will be $99 per year, compared to the standard subscription which is only $79.99 per year.

It is important to note that the $99 price can only be availed until the end of their promotion period, which is November 28. Fortunately for those who will partake in the Ultra Tier before November 28, the price will stay at $99 as long as their subscription remains active.

Why Did DC Release the New Subscription Tier?

DC's senior vice president and general manager, Anne DePies, mentioned that they were excited to introduce DC Universe Ifinite's Ultra Tier, as it offers a one-month windowing of digital comics.

It is also part of the comics publisher's vision of being everywhere their fans were., whether it was in comic book shops or online. Of course, fans can still go to physical comic book stores to stay on top of the latest issues and avoid spoilers, but it would be more convenient to just wait for the digital release. The new stories will include Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, according to Games Radar.

On the other hand, they may also have released this to compete with Marvel's Exclusive Kit with an annual plus membership. The subscription offers a limited edition Hasbro Marvel Legends Daredevil figure which cannot be purchased elsewhere alongside a Classic Daredevil by Skottie Young Pin.

Subscribers will also get n A.X.E. Eve of Judgement (2022) #1 Peach Momoko Variant Comic. The subscription also includes a Daredevil Litho by Romy Jones, a Captain America: Sam Wilson's Shield Patch, invites and access to Marvel Events, and a 10% discount on Marvel Merchandise at shopDisney.com.
