Guilty Gear Strive’s Cross-Platform Open Beta Has Started — Here’s What You Need To Know

Guilty Gear Strive's cross-platform capability is a step closer to becoming a reality.

Arc System Works has recently made the open beta for its latest Guilty Gear entry officially live for all players to try regardless of their platform, fittingly.

Guilty Gear Strive's open beta will end on Oct. 17 at midnight, meaning that the beta will only last for five days.

Guilty Gear Strive Cross-Platform Capability Details

Arc System works mentioned in its announcement that Strive's cross-platform open beta will be held using a separate application from the original Guilty Gear Strive game and will be available for download from the stores on each platform.

Interestingly, the cross-platform open beta's application is free to download, giving gamers who are interested in playing the game but are unable to buy it the chance to experience it.

Another interesting fact is that Strive's cross-platform application contains almost if not all of, the original game's features. Arc System Works' announcement mentioned that all 21 characters currently available in the original game, including the game's DLC characters, such as Bridget, Baiken, and Testament, per Game Rant.

Additionally, players can use these characters in the game's various modes, such as Tutorial, Mission, Survival, and even offline single-player versus mode against the CPU or a friend.

They can even create unique scenes through the game's Digital Figure mode and view characters and listen to the game's background music in its gallery.

However, the meat of the cross-platform's open beta is its multiplayer mode, which allows players from across the world to go up against each other in online matches.

When a player accepts an invitation to an online match, a crossing arrows icon will appear beside their opponent's name to show if they are on a different platform than theirs.

Unfortunately, this crossing arrows icon is absent from the match acceptance screen, which allows a player to accept or decline an invitation to go up against another player in an online match.

Players not looking for cross-platform matches can turn the feature off from the Systems option in the Setting menu. Players should keep note that this option is switched to "On" by default.

Conversely, switching this setting to "Off" will make matches with players on other platforms unavailable.

Furthermore, the open beta comes with the ability to temporarily mute chat messages from a specific player and report harassment if necessary.

The open beta also introduces changes to assigned floor rules, giving players a better chance to match with others of the same skill level after repeated losses based on their input techniques.

Lastly, the saved data crated from the open beta can't be carried over to the original Strive game.

The Price Of Online Multiplayer

Although Strive's cross-platform open beta is free to download, this does not mean that online multiplayer will be free as well.

As such, Strive players on the PlayStation platform wishing to try the game's cross-platform mode will need to get a Playstation Plus subscription before trying out the game's cross-platform capabilities.

Players on Steam are exempt from this rule.
