DuckDuckGo Web Browser Protects Privacy of Mac Users

With the web browser app from DuckDuckGo, Mac users can now try the different privacy features available in the app.

The beta browser of DuckDuckGo for Mac is finally open to the public and can be downloaded. Users can download it in DMG file from DuckDuckGo's website.

According to BleepingComputer, the app guarantees true private web browsing. With it, users can be assured that their browsing experience is 100% free from third-party tracking, targeted advertising, search query logging, and user profiling.

Tagged as an alternative to incognito modes in other browsers, DuckDuckGo for Mac is made to make it easy for the user to set up by "having advanced privacy protection features pre-configured and activated by default."

The app has built-in safeguards that has the ability to block trackers before they even load. According to reports, it could result in around 60 percent less data usage than Chrome.

"Forget going incognito with other browsers that don't actually deliver substantive web tracking protection; you deserve privacy all the time, with built-in protections that make the Internet less creepy and less cluttered," reads the blog post from DuckDuckGo.

Features of the DuckDuckGo for Mac Beta

The current DuckDuckGo for Mac is version 0.30. While it is still far from being stable, a lot of features come with it for the protection of the users.

One of the major additions in the features of the web browser app is the Duck Player. It's an embedded YouTube player. It guards users from cookies and targeted ad tracking while streaming YouTube content.

This feature blocks YouTube from creating an advertising profile on the users. Through this, users will be safe from targeted ads.

While YouTube will still count users' views in its overall viewership, users will not have to worry about all those personalized commercials.

The system is optional. For a more personalized experience, users can seamlessly switch between standard YouTube and Duck Player, depending on their preferences.

DuckDuckGo browser for Mac also integrated in the browser the Bitwarden open-source password management solution.

This means that the browser is compatible with the 1Password universal autofill feature. Likewise, the app works with the native password management solution.

To better protect users' inbox with email tracker blocking, DuckDuckGo for Mac also lets users activate DuckDuckGo Email Protection on the desktop.

The app also improved DuckDuckGo for Mac's tracker blocking. With this, the browser will clear the distracting whitespace left behind by those missing ads.

According to The Verge, DuckDuckGo issued an affirmation that they are developing a Windows version of the application. The company added that it is currently being tested in an early friends and family beta.
