Virgin Media Upped Streaming Competition, Offers Bigger Customers Savings

Virgin Media has upped the competition in streaming services, offering up to £31 savings a month for customers on popular subscriptions such as Sky Sports, BT Sport, and Sky Cinema.

Virgin Media has made the competition even stiffer with its no activation fee policy, equivalent to £35 for customers with M350, M500, or Gig1 broadband-only packages.

Virgin Media's Ability to Bundle

The British telecommunications company apparently has edged its competitors in the streaming industry.

Virgin Media's appeal to customers lies in its ability to bundle the TV, internet, and phone costs in one package. This bundling alone can bring down the costs making it easier for the customers to handle their bills.

Although Sky Sports and BT Sports offer similar packages, Virgin Media has stirred the hornet's nest with its daring marketing strategy.

Stream at Virgin Media comes at a 30-day rolling contract. But the customers can have a discount on BT Sport, Sky Cinema, and Sky Sports for an 18-month contract on broadband services. The discount will be unavailable if customers cancel Stream,

'Volt' Product And Other Packages

One of Virgin Media's deals brings the company partnering with O2, a phone provider.

In introducing its "Volt" product, the company called it a "supercharged service from Virgin Media O2."

Volt, a joint product between Virgin Media and O2, gives the customers two services, connectivity, and entertainment, promising more on speed, data, and money's worth.

In a statement, the company said the customers could bring their experience to a new level and, at the same time, enjoy the rewards of both brands.

The Volt product gives the customers double rewards, such as double broadband speed, double mobile data, and rebates on connected devices when a customer decides to subscribe to Virgin Media's broadband service and has a monthly plan with O2.

Virgin Media O2 Benefits

Below are the benefits when customers switch to Volt:

  • Boost broadband speed up to the next tier (e.g. 100Mbps boosted to 200Mbps)
  • Double mobile data on all eligible O2 Pay Monthly plans (e.g. 10GB boosted to 20GB)
  • Up to £150 off a connected device such as a tablet or smartwatch by simply taking a new O2 Pay Monthly Custom plan
  • WiFi Pods are also available to increase connectivity
  • Roaming is available in 75 countries, including USA, Australia, and Spain, with O2 Travel

And More

New and existing customers can avail of Volt. And more benefits: account holders can have exclusive benefits regardless of the broadband package or O2 monthly plan they may take.

Existing customers can only enroll through MyO2 to upgrade the services to Volt at no extra cost. New customers of both companies can upgrade to Volt upon adding relevant services.

Value, Flexibility, And Convenience

The three core principles behind Stream from Virgin Media are value, flexibility, and convenience, David Bouchier, chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, said.

When inflation hurts every pocket, the company sees that its products can give more value to every penny the customers can squeeze.

He said that product features like streaming services at discounted prices or rolling out Steam credit lies can give more value to the customers' money.
