IEM Rio Major 2022 Releases Official Trailer Ahead of Tournament

The Intel Extreme Master Rio Major 2022 is literally just around the corner and an official trailer has been released for the tournament. It is the first Major to be held in Brazil.

It is also the 18th Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major Championship. The last Major Championship, the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, took play from May 9 to 22 in Stockholm, Sweden. FaZe Clan emerged as the winner with Natus Vincere coming in as the runner-up. 

The winner of the IEM Rio Major 2022 will win the $1.25 million prize at the endof the tournament. 

IEM Rio Major 2022

Specifically, the IEM Rio Major 2022 will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from October 31 to November 13.

According to the ESL Pro Tour website, the Challengers Stage are set to take place from October 31 to November 3, while the Legends Stage will take place on November 5 to 8. Both stages will happen in front of live crowd at Riocentro Hall 6.

The Champions Stage, on the other hand, is scheduled for November 10 to 13. It will take place at Jeunesse Arena in order to accommodate more attendees.

If you are attending the IEM Rio Major 2022, the ESL Pro Tour website notes that you are required to present an ID. Minimum age for the event is 12 years of age and those who are below 16 years old need to provide a notarized written authorization from their parents should they not be in attendance.

IEM Rio Major 2022 First Day Matches

The following matches are scheduled for the first day, October 31: 

  • MOUZ vs Outsiders
  • 9z Team vs GamerLegion 
  • Bad News Eagles vs 00NATION 
  • OG vs Grayhound Gaming 

The following matches have also been scheduled for November 1:

  • BIG vs Furia
  • Evil Geniuses vs IHC Esports
  • Team Vitality vs Imperial Esports
  • Cloud9 vs Fnatic

Counter-Strike Global Offensive

One of the most popular esports game today, Counter-Strike Global Offensive is a multiplayer first-person shooter game released by Valve in 2012. It is the fourth game in the Counter-Strike series. 

While the Competitive mode remains to be the primary gameplay experience of the game, there are also other game modes available for players to check out. These are the following:

  • Arms Race
  • Casual
  • Danger Zone
  • Deathmatch
  • Demolition
  • Flying Scoutsman
  • Retakes
  • Wingman

As with previous Counter-Strike games, players become a member of either the Terrorists or Counter-Terrorists. To win, a team must completely objectives depending on the chosen game mode and map. Some maps require Terrorists to plant bombs and Counter-Terrorists to defuse bombs. Other maps involve a hostage-taking scenario.
