Belkin Reveals Its Apple-Approved MagSafe Car Mount Charger — How Much Does It Cost?

An Apple-approved MagSafe car mount charger is now available for purchase.

Consumer electronics company Belkin recently debuted its new Boost Charge Pro Wireless Car Charger with MagSafe to the world, providing everyone with a charger specifically designed for MagSafe-enabled iPhone models for use in cars.

Customers interested in buying Belkin's MagSafe car mount charger can only find it on Apple's online store, per Macrumors.

Belkin's new MagSafe car mount charger isn't like the ones commonly found on Amazon. According to The Verge, while the ones found on Amazon or other online stores are MagSafe compatible, Belkin's new charger is the real deal - it uses Apple's MagSafe technology.

As such, customers interested in the product can expect that Belkin's MagSafe car-mounted charger uses the same magnet rings found in Apple's other MagSafe chargers to hold their phones.

Additionally, the charger can power up an iPhone 12's battery with "the fastest possible wireless charge," according to Apple's online store. To be specific, Belkin's MagSafe car-mounted charger can charge an iPhone 12 with up to 15W of power.

Newer iPhone models like the iPhone 13 and 14 can also take advantage of Belkin's fast wireless charging feature.

However, Belkin's charger uses standard Qi charging since it uses Apple's MagSafe Technology. Allegedly, it can't provide the amount of power advertised.

As a result, the charger, or the coil within it, is only technically capable of fast wireless charging for phones that aren't iPhones.

Nevertheless, it doesn't change the fact that Apple approved the device, so that has to count for something.

Using the charger in a car is quite straightforward: the charger's user clips the charger onto one of a car's airconditioning vents after being plugged onto the car's outlet.

Although most modern cars have USB-C ports installed in them, some only have USB-A ports or no ports at all. As such, Belkin's Magsafe car mount charger comes with not only a USB-C cable but also a 12V car charger adapter.

Belkin's charger would then be able to hold their phone up to make accessing maps and other controls easier and faster.

The mount allows its users to switch screen orientations between portrait to landscape, providing them with the flexibility they need to view the map and the directions it is showing as well as other controls better.

However, Apple and Belkin are offering the car mount charger with a $99.95 price tag - a price too high compared to the alternatives.

Alternatives to Belkin's MagSafe Car Mounted Charger

When compared to other MagSafe compatible car chargers in the market, Belkin's new MagSafe car mount charger's price is higher than others, even when compared to a similar product Belkin is also offering.

According to Amazon's store page for Belkin's other car mount charger, the Belkin MagSafe Car Vent Mount, the device costs only $39.99, $59.96 cheaper than the new one with Apple's MagSafe technology.

As such, it is advisable to look at other cheaper alternatives before considering buying Belkin's Boost Charge Pro Wireless Car Charger with MagSafe.
