5 Video Game-Based TV Series You Have To Watch Out for Soon

Video games are getting increasingly popular thanks to their growing acccessibility, quality narrative, and by better engaging with people through innovation and active participation, turning them into players rather than a passive audience, per Level Skip.

Their popularity has gotten to a point that many production studios are considering adapting them for the small screen, as evidenced by Netflix's "Castlevania" animated series and "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners."

Here are some of the video game adaptations you may want to keep a look out for to keep you updated.

Tomb Raider

The Tomb Raider franchise is one of the gaming industry's most iconic and generation-defining franchises. Even if it's been remade by Square Enix, Lara Croft's journeys through various locations of mythological significance still capture gamers' eyes.

As such, it is no wonder Croft's journeys are being adapted into an animated series for the small screen by Powerhouse, the same team behind the "Castlevania" Netflix series, for Netflix, per Kotaku.

Splinter Cell

Another Netflix-exclusive video game-based TV series, the "Splinter Cell" TV series is one of Netflix's most highly anticipated video game adaptations, per Collider.

Not much is known about the TV series aside from the fact that it is being written by Derek Kolstad of "John Wick" fame, and it will be eight episodes long, each lasting 30 minutes.

The TV series is based on Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell novels; Netflix has yet to give a definite release date for the TV series.

Fallout

'The Frontier,' The Gigantic Mode Project For 'Fallout: New Vegas,' Has Finally Been Released

"Fallout: New Vegas" is a thrilling post-apocalyptic video game from Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda Softworks. It centers around It picks up several years after "Fall Out 3" in the former city of Las Vegas, hence called New Vegas, in 2281. Released in 2010, the game still manages to attract new and old audiences thanks to its dedicated community.

The post-apocalyptic world of the Fallout video game series is intriguing as it portrays what society would look like as a result of total nuclear war.

Thanks to this appeal, Amazon and Bethesda have partnered up to bring the franchise's story into an Amazon original live-action TV series.

A Deadline report mentioned that the TV series entered production sometime this year, but any details about it are still unknown.

We won't know if the TV series will be based on past Fallout games or not until Amazon reveals anything before it releases it.

The popular e-commerce company has yet to share a definite release date for the "Fallout TV Series."

God Of War

The God of War series' Norse Saga may be over, but Kratos' story within the Nine Realms still resonates with gamers worldwide. As such, Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan wants to strike while the iron's hot, previously announcing a live-action "God of War" TV series is in the works, and that Amazon gets to stream it.

Not much is known about the TV series, though it is assumed it will cover Kratos' story shown in the two recent God of War games.

Sony and Amazon have yet to give the TV series a release date.

The Last Of Us

HBO's live-action "The Last of Us" TV Series is fast approaching, with its release date on HBO and HBOMax set for Jan.15, 2023, per IMDb. It is perhaps the most faithful adaptation of the 2013 video game series, per The Gamer, with its trailers containing callbacks to many of the 2013 game's scenes and iconic landmarks.

As expected, the TV Series follows Joel and Ellie's journey as they make their way through a post-apocalyptic United States years after the Cordyceps brain infection has spread across the country together.

It is directed and led by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin, who is joined by Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann, who will act as the TV series' executive producer.
