Apple to bring iPhone 5s reservations for in-store pickup service back as early as Sept. 30

A few days after the launch and complete sell-out of the iPhone 5s, Apple offered online orders with in-store pickup. The service lasted a day, but is set to return as early as Sept. 30.

Earlier this month, Apple, for the first time, launched two new iPhones on the same day, the flagship iPhone 5s and the multi-colored, mid-range iPhone 5c. The two handsets have been a huge hit for the Cupertino company, and following its launch weekend, the company announced it has sold 9 million units of the new devices, easily shattering its previous records.

If you missed out on ordering an iPhone 5s, Apple's online store is quoting an October ship date for new orders, while the iPhone 5c can be ordered online and ships within 24 hours. iPhone 5c shoppers can even reserve a 5c for in-store pickup. The company surprised many when it posted online that iPhone 5s orders could also be reserved for in-store pickup. The service lasted less than a day before Apple pulled the reservations. If you missed out, you'll be happy to know that the service is expected to return as early as Monday, Sept. 30.

9To5Mac is reporting that it has heard from two reliable sources that Apple will reinstate the service very soon, possibly on Sept. 30. Sources have told the site that the service went live early due to a glitch and was quickly taken down. If you don't want to wait until sometime in October to receive an iPhone 5s, this is your best bet at getting one sooner.

Here's how the service will work when it goes live:

1.    Go to the iPhone 5s page and click Reserve.

2.    Pick the location you want to reserve the iPhone 5s at.

3.    Select the iPhone 5s color, capacity and carrier and sign in with your Apple ID.

4.    Confirm your selection and complete the reservation.

5.    Head to the Apple Store and pickup your new iPhone 5s.

It's a much better system than having to wait a few weeks to get your hands on an iPhone 5s. We'll be sure to update you when the service goes live.
