Starbucks Rewards Members Can Now Use Venmo for Payment

Starbucks now lets its Rewards members pay and load their card funds with Venmo, says PayPal.

Paypal, the digital wallet's parent company, says that Venmo account holders can use the app in two simple steps.

First, add your Venmo account in the Starbucks app or Starbucks Card section of the website. Then, pay directly from Venmo.

Aside from that, Starbucks also offers 100 bonus stars for Rewards members who added at least $15 from Venmo to their Starbucks Card. Members can also spend $15 or more using Venmo as a direct payment in the Starbucks app and will make them gain a bonus as well.

Stars may be exchanged for free food and drink at participating stores, excluding alcoholic beverages and multi-serve items. Selected stores also have a maximum rewards offer wherein customers can only redeem 200 Stars for food and beverage items. This promotion will run until the 10th of February.

Despite the generous offers that this partnership brings, Venmo made it clear that they are not responsible for the provision of, or failure to provide, the benefits and services related to the promos being offered by Starbucks. They also reiterated that not all stores recognize and accept tiered rewards.

Starbucks and Its Partners

This is not the first time that the coffee chain initiated a partnership. To deal with the recent slowdowns of the business, it also announced its partnership with other companies. Early this year, it partnered with DoorDash, an online food ordering company set to deliver their drinks to every citizen of the United States.

This partnership offers a different bonus. Subscribers to DoorDash's DashPash can get their orders of $12 or more for free. If you are a regular customer, you would have to pay for your order in addition to the delivery fee.

Aside from a partnership with DoorDash, Starbucks also partnered with Pokemon Go, an augmented reality mobile app. This partnership has been attractive to Pokemon Go players because Starbucks added several PokeStops on their branches. This was a great hit for a lot of players as the partnership also kept them engaged and offered them bonuses during special events. On the coffee chain's end, it earned $5 million on in-app purchases in December 2017 alone.

Venmo and Its Partners

Venmo also had a fair share of built partnerships with other companies. One of its partners is Apple, a technology company that added PayPal and Venmo apps as payment platforms for its consumers.

In 2022, Apple consumers and iPhone users just had access to the tap-to-pay technology support that allows quicker payments using authorized platforms.

One big company that also partnered with Venmo is Amazon. In 2022, the company also added the payment app as its consumers' new payment method.

The e-commerce company created a Venmo page that allows users to pay without any additional fees or interest rates. It also offered advantages like using Venmo balance, linked bank accounts, or debit cards when paying for their items.
