WhatsApp's New Status Feature Lets Users Post Voice Notes As Updates

WhatsApp status, which enables you to publish vanishing images and other media, is getting a number of new features from Meta.

Users will be able to post voice messages, limit who may view their status, and respond to other people's posts with an emoji once the features go live in the upcoming weeks.

These New Features Make WhatsApp More Fun

In order to improve its use and appeal to users, WhatsApp Status, the feature that was first introduced in 2017 as the company's response to Snapchat Stories, has undergone a number of improvements.

WhatsApp debuted audio status on Tuesday, giving users the option to record and post voice messages up to 30 seconds long as status updates.

According to Tech Crunch, by pressing the microphone icon on the status screen, users can record voice notes.

It gives status updates a more personalized touch and serves as a practical substitute for individuals who do not like to type or use visuals.

With beta testers from its Android and iOS devices, WhatsApp tested its voice status feature last month to make sure it is of good quality.

It can be remembered that only months ago, WhatsApp experienced tremendous growth in voice messages on its platform.

In March, the messaging service operated by Meta said that its customers were daily sending 7 billion audio messages on average.

The update reminds users of the Cappuccino app, which enables users to share brief, intimate audio stories with friends, by the addition of voice notes in WhatsApp status updates.

WhatsApp Added Other Features As Well

The most recent WhatsApp status updates contain a "private audience selector" in addition to voice status, which enables users to simply select a privacy option for each status to control who can access their status updates.

On the status screen, a new audience selection button emerges, and displays a menu so users can choose who can see their status updates.

Following a status update, the most recent audience choice will be saved and used by default, in contrast with how it was before where users have to manually go to the privacy setting to alter it.

Status reactions, which were previously only available to some users, are now more widely available on WhatsApp.

The Verge notes that by simply selecting one of the eight emojis, users can respond to any status updates.

Similar to how status reactions are now open to all users on WhatsApp, status profile rings were previously only visible to a select few people.

Status profile rings will be shown in the contact information, chat lists, and participation lists for groups, Tech Crunch details.

Additionally, users now display a visual preview of the links they provide to YouTube videos or Instagram posts in their WhatsApp status messages thanks to the addition of link previews.

The messaging app announced that the updates have begun to roll out to users worldwide and will be accessible to everyone in the upcoming weeks.
