Apple’s iOS 16.4 Developer Beta Comes with New Features

Apple just released its latest iOS 16.4 developer beta versions. It comes with new features like updates for certain languages, emoji support, and more. Although, users will have to register in Applee's developer program to install it.

What's New

Apple is introducing new emojis into the list from Unicode version 15.0, which was introduced in September. New emojis include the shaking face emoji, the pushing hand emoji, new colors for hearts like gray and teal, and the Khanda emblem that represents Sikhism.

There are also keyboard updates for certain languages. For instance, autocorrect will no longer be enabled by default when using the Korean keyboard. It also comes with predictive text support for the keyboard in Ukrainian.

According to The Verge, Asian languages will have transliteration layouts for Urdu, Punjabi, and Gujarati. It could allow people to type words using roman letters instead of being translated into English, which used to require learning from the user through predictive text.

Update Issues

A user might encounter issues with watch migration when restoring a backup to a new phone. It could be fixed by unpairing the watch from the source phone and pairing it with the destination phone, according to Apple.

There may also be issues with paring Matter accessories. The device that does the pairing will need to be on the same iCloud account as the home hub, and only the owner of the home can pair with Matter accessories. PAriing using the QR code instead could fix the issue.

Users might also need to close certain documents, spreadsheets, or presentations when Advance Data Protection for iCloud is on, as Pages, Numbers, and Keynote might require it. The user can try to open the files again in a few minutes.
