Google is Releasing Patch for Pixel Watch Alarm Bug

Alarms are convenient for those who lose track of time sometimes and need a little reminder that the time has come for particular tasks. However, inaccurate alarm clocks can disrupt that process, which is the current issue for Pixel watches.

Faulty Alarm Clock

Google is in the process of releasing a patch for the bug causing Google Pixel Watch alarms to sound at the wrong time. Users complained that the alarm would go off minutes early or late, even reaching up to ten minutes in some instances.

Company spokesperson Sodia Giovannello stated that the patch for the Clock app bug can be downloaded through the Play Store. Users can automatically get the patch as soon as it's available by enabling the auto-update app setting on their Watch in the Play Store Settings.

As mentioned in The Verge, some believe that the issue may have stemmed from the Bedtime mode, but further tests were inconclusive and Google has not addressed the issue, even on its March 2023 Pixel Watch update.

Although it's a minor problem for some, this could become a major issue for users who strictly adhere to specific time cues for time-ins, meetings, class hours, and more. Since the bug can delay the alarm for up to ten minutes, this can lead to a user's tardiness.

Other Google Pixel Updates for March

For one, a Google Pixel Watch can now display its Digital Clock with a button press even if the device is powered down. The time will appear when the user pushes the crown, which can be found alongside the red low battery indicator.

Previously, users can tap, tilt, and button press to wake the watch. Now, they can also rotate the Crown to do so. Improvements in the sensitivity of the touchscreen behavior will also be a part of the March 2023 update, according to Google.

Users can now easily enable and disable the battery-saver feature with single-tap support in QSS. As for settings, there are now new color-correction and greyscale modes that can optimize the display for users for a wider range of preferences.

It has also added Fall Detection, wherein the device can detect if the user has taken a hard fall and connect them to emergency services immediately. Upon contact, the watch will play an automated message to request help and state its location.

Google Pixel Watch Features

The alarm bug may be a deal breaker for some, but the Pixel Watch has a lot more to offer and the issue already has a fix on the way. There are features that you can still use the watch for in the meantime.

Such features include workout tracking, advanced sleep tracking, continuous heart rate tracking, an ECG app with AFib detection, stress management score, and more. It's even water resistant so you wouldn't have to worry about using it in an environment where it might get wet.

You can use the watch to connect to Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Wallet, Gmail, as well as Calendar notifications. With the connection through Google Assistant or Alexa, you can control your smart home through your watch.
