Verizon to exclusively launch 5-inch BlackBerry Z30 on Oct. 31

A new report claims that Verizon will be the exclusive carrier of the 5-inch BlackBerry Z30 and will begin selling the smartphone on Oct. 31 for $299.

BlackBerry was once the top smartphone maker but has quickly seen its reign come to an end as the popularity of Apple's iOS and Google's Android have been a hit with consumers. In an effort to compete with Apple and Google, BlackBerry built its next-generation BB10 OS from the ground up. It launched the new OS on the BlackBerry Z10 and soon followed up with the QWERTY-equipped BlackBerry Q10. The OS is gesture-driven and has been applauded for being very intuitive and fast.

The company is hoping that consumers will enjoy BB10 even more on a smartphone that has a large 5-inch Super AMOLED display. BlackBerry has officially announced the BlackBerry Z30 already and a new report claims Verizon will be the exclusive carrier of the smartphone and will launch it on Oct. 31 for $299.99 when signing a new 2-year contract.

The BlackBerry Z30 features a 5-inch Super AMOLED 1280 x 720 display with a pixel density of 295 pixels per inch (ppi). It runs BlackBerry 10.2 OS, powered by a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with quad-core Adreno 320 graphics processing unit (GPU), and packs in 2GB of RAM.

The Z30 includes 16GB of internal storage and features a microSD expansion slot to allow users to add more memory. The smartphone also has an 8-megapixel rear camera with Auto-Focus, Back Side Illumination, 5 element F2.2 lens, Flash, continuous & touch to focus, image stabilization, Proprietary Enhanced Super, Resolution Digital Zoom (5x), 1080p HD video recording. It also uses a 2-megapixel front facing camera. In terms of wireless connectivity, the handset features a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, and NFC. The smartphone is powered by a large 2,880 mAh battery.

Since BlackBerry and Verizon haven't officially announced that the Z30 will be making its U.S. debut soon, we'll have to wait to hear an official word. We'll be sure to bring you the latest Z30 news once we get more details.
