iOS 16.5 Beta Lets Users Ask Siri to Take a Screen Recording

Siri has been a part of Apple devices since 2011, and the digital assistant has been helpful with many tasks like setting an alarm or even scheduling meetings. There have been many updates and additional features since then, of course.

Siri with Screen Recording

Apple is in the process of adding to Siri's list of capabilities for iOS 16.5 beta, wherein the virtual assistant can be asked to record the screen of the device. The Screen Record feature can now be used just by saying "Hey Siri, start a screen recording."

Siri will be able to process the command and record the iPhone screen automatically, and will only stop once the user taps in or command Siri by saying "Stop the screen recording," according to MacRumors.

However, the user will have to be clear and specific about the command. Saying "take a screen recording" might lead the voice assistant to take a screenshot instead, which Siri has already been capable of before the new beta update.

Reports say that previous versions of Apple's iOS would simply do a web search when a user asks the virtual assistant to take a screen recording. That or Siri will state that the device doesn't have the proper app installed to perform the action.

Before the beta update, users will have to go to Settings, Control Center, and then tap on the Add button next to Screen Recording. The screen recording will start as soon as a user exits the Control Center and will stop once the red record button is pressed.

The iOS 16.5 beta is available for registered developers, which can be found in the iPhone's Software Update under Settings. Tap on the  Beta Updates option and toggle the iOS 16 Developer Beta on.

What Else Can Siri Do for You?

Many iPhone users don't use Siri enough, but there are actually a lot of tasks you can do quickly when you ask the virtual assistant for help. For instance, you can ask Siri to translate English into other languages when you're traveling to a foreign country.

You can also ask for sports information when you're not at home and you can't watch the game at the moment. All you have to ask for the score in real time and specify what kind of game and which teams you're asking about.

You can also schedule an alarm with a specific time or duration. One useful function that people might not know about is how Siri can record your car's location when you park, so you won't have to look for your vehicle when you forget.

You can also use Siri as a calculator by dictating the equation you needed to be done, which can be used for various situations like tipping in a restaurant or calculating your financials. You can even ask Siri to call by a name of your choosing.

The virtual can function as a navigator when you're on the road. You can ask Siri where the nearest locations are like gas stations, malls, restaurants, and more, according to INC. Of course, there are basic functions too like asking what the weather is like at the moment.
