Horizon Forbidden West’s DLC Fixes One of Its Biggest Complaints

Legendary weapons in Horizon Forbidden West are now easier to upgrade.

Guerilla Games' first DLC for its latest entry to its Horizon series did more than just add content for players to enjoy - it also fixed one of the game's most complained-about bugs.

Horizon Forbidden West is now available to download for the PlayStation 5 since Apr. 19; players can't download it on the PlayStation 4 due to the last-gen console's technical limitations.

Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores Bug Fix Details

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is a DLC containing content that expands what the base game features and more. It comes with new storylines, characters, and experiences as players follow Aloy beyond the Forbidden West, per the PlayStation Store

There she'll explore the ruins of Los Angeles, which has been turned into a volcanic and violent archipelago thanks to the tectonic movement that occurred between the mid-21st century and the 31st century. However, not every piece of content the DLC comes with involves Aloy's story and Horizon Forbidden West's gameplay.

According to a Games Radar report citing a post on the official r/Horizon subreddit, the DLC came with a fix for one of the most complained-about bugs in the game as of press time - the unnecessarily high amount of items needed to upgrade Legendary weapons. As a result, players, and by extension, Aloy, could now look forward to fewer fights with difficult Apex machines to upgrade their legendary gear.

Previously, players would need to acquire at least 500 Apex Stormbird hearts to upgrade a legendary weapon; from players' sentiments through the comments they published on the post, it can be assumed that this item is difficult to obtain and grind for even at the best of times.

Worse still, some of the items needed to upgrade legendary weapons are more difficult to obtain because some of the robots containing them, such as the Slitherfang Earthgliders and Fireclaws, would chuck them off to inaccessible places upon "dying," preventing players from acquiring them.

According to Sirius Gaming, the DLC introduces 14 new weapons: five new bows, two new bolt blasters, gauntlets, and spike throwers, a new rope caster, and a special weapon. Gamers playing through the DLC may want to acquire these weapons as soon as they can to get an edge and even the playing field against the new enemies the DLC has to offer.

One of these weapons can be available at the start through pre-ordering the DLC, but it could be purchased from specific merchants in the Burning Shores region.

Horizon Forbidden West: The Burning Shores is available to download from the PlayStation Store for $19.99.
