Stars On Mars Details

Fox recently committed to sending a dozen of the most random celebrities imaginable to a fake version of Mars under the care of William Shatner of "Star Trek" fame (he's the original Captain Kirk!) to compete for his approval, per Polygon

A quick look at the list of celebrities going to fake Mars proves that Fox did send the most random celebrities imaginable for its reality show. The cast consists of former athletes, TV personalities, actors, relatives of famous people, and even musicians.

Case in point, Lance Armstrong, the legendary cyclist that tarnished his reputation following a doping scandal, is among the celebrities competing for Shatner's approval.

Even Ronda Rousey, who made her name known through wrestling and being a UFC fighter, is also among those set to compete in Stars on Mars. Aside from Rousey and Armstrong, former NFL players Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherman and Olympic figure skater, Adam Rippon will join in the reality show.

As for TV personalities, comedians Natasha Leggero, Tom Schwartz, and Porsha Williams Guobadia are also included in the reality show. Actors such as Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Arial Williams are also included in the show.

Interestingly, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter, Tallulah Willis, and musician Tinashe get to spend their time on fake Mars with the previously mentioned celebrities.

During their time on fake Mars, the celebrities will live, eat, sleep, strategize, and bond with each other for the audience to see, per Deadline. There is a twist to their life, however: they will be faced with authentic conditions that simulate life on Mars.

Shatner, meanwhile, will be playing the celebrities' mission control, per Entertainment Weekly. He'll give them assignments to do and hold an elimination each week wherein they must send one of them "back to Earth" until only one remains to become "the brightest star in the galaxy."

Stars On Mars Runtime Details

As previously mentioned, Stars on Mars will premiere on Fox starting June 5. According to TVline, the show will be on at 8/7c, or 8 PM EST/7 PM Central.

A Variety report mentioned that Fox unscripted programming president Allison Wallach said in a statement that Watching celebrities take giant steps out of their comfort zone to experience a simulated life on Mars is undoubtedly "transformational, cominal," and a good opportunity to learn more about them.

Shatner made a quip at the thought of living on a fake Mars, saying that someone from Los Angeles would find living in mind the same as living there due to the unbreathable air.
