New Rideshare App Has Drivers Who Carry Firearms

Imagine getting into a vehicle with a complete stranger who you know is packing a loaded weapon, and then telling him your home address. Well, that's what the new rideshare app Black Wolf can offer, which they claim is for the sake of protection.

Extra Secure Trip

Atlanta, Georgia now has its own ride service with extra protection as the Black Wolf rideshare app launched a service with drivers that carry guns. Not only that but the drivers are also said to be trained in private security to make sure that they provide proper protection.

Such training includes simulated combat, vehicle tactics, marksmanship, active shooter scenarios, advancing location, command center operations, field detail operations, and executive protection.

The rideshare company believes that it's a way to keep people safe from the increase of gun violence in the US, although some would argue that fighting firearms with firearms is a recipe for disaster, and may even put the life of the rider at risk.

Black Wolf founder and CEO, Kerry KingBrown has experience with being a bodyguard and is currently a private investigator, according to Gizmodo. KingBrown says that they were about "security and safety at all times."

The rideshare app founder pointed out that it's the average person that mostly gets robbed or raped, further justifying that the extreme service was a "necessary evil" and a necessity. The company claims to have served more than 8,000 clients with a 100% satisfaction rate.

The Black Wolf website also boasts of its executives collectively having more than 20 years of training in Military Special Ops, Executive Protection, Private Detective, and Professional Celebrity Bodyguard Details.

The blog post also narrates that KingBrown served as an Executive Protection Driver for a US Congress Member, who then suggested that there was a gap in security when it comes to the ride-hailing industry, which led to the creation of the app.

Is It Safe?

If it is used in the way that the executives of Black Wolf intended, then perhaps it is. Then again, there is no guarantee, is there? Of course, riders can still opt for the service where the driver is trained to protect them without having to carry a loaded weapon.

In order to apply, drivers will have to fill out and answer the questions in a form. Some of the questions include inquiries like whether the applicant has a permit for carrying a concealed weapon as an armed driver, or if they can carry pepper spray as an unarmed driver.

They will also be asked if they have a Blue Card or a Security Guard license. Other safety measures include questions about tickets in the last three years, felonies and misdemeanors, if they are CRP or First Aid certified, and if they agree to a background check.

Most importantly, they are asked if they have had handgun or rifle training. If so, they would check the boxes whether they've handled handguns, rifles, both, or neither. The applicant will also be asked how many years of training they have undergone.
