Fortnite's new update comes with an explosive entrance.
Epic Games' recent update to Fortnite, v25.11, brings a new explosive weapon to the battle royale shooter along with new reality augments for players to enjoy and use in-game.
The new update's release also acts as a sign that Fortnite's summer celebration kicks off in early July.
Fortnite v25.11 Update Details
Epic Games mentioned in its announcement that Fortnite's v25.11 comes with the Explosive Repeater Rifle, which, true to its name, triggers a small explosion on impact. This mechanic means players don't have to directly hit their target to deal some damage whenever they have this gun in their hands.
Since the Explosive Repeater Rifle deals explosive damage, it can destroy cover and small flora on the map; players can destroy bushes with the gun after enough attempts, leaving other players out in the open.
Players can find the Explosive Repeater Rifle from the ground, regular and rare chests, Holo-Chests, and Nia for Bars. To balance the weapon's capability with other existing guns in the game, Epic stated it vaulted the Heavy Sniper Rifle, making it unavailable in-game.
In addition to the Explosive Repeater Rifle, v25.11 comes with two new Reality Augments that complement the Explosive Repeater Rifle's heavy capabilities and ammo: Heavy Headshots and Heavy Ammo Acquired.

The Heavy Headshots Reality Augment allows a player to deal increased headshot damage whenever they use a heavy weapon like the Explosive Repeater Rifle. Meanwhile, the Heavy Ammo Acquired Reality Augment gives players the ability to instantly gain heavy ammo and gain more when they open containers.
Aside from these additions, Fortnite's v25.11 includes the Wildguard Relik, Wildguard Relik's Cloak Gauntlets, and Relik's MK-Alpha Assault Rifle from v25.10 in tournaments, allowing them to be used in competitive matches.
Last but not least, Epic Games added a bug fix for an issue preventing Victory Crowns from appearing in players' inventories. This is the same bug that prevented Victory Crowns from being dropped from players' inventories.
Other Fortnite v25.11 Additions
Epic Games previously announced it is launching the Winter's Trickster Legacy Set in v25.11, which provides challenges to players in the form of five stages that players must unlock to progress.
The stages and they items they reward to players when they unlock them are as follows:
- Stage 1 - unlock the Winter's Trickster Banner Icon, the Tricksters Unite! Emoticon, and Trickster's Charge Spray. Fortnite Crw subscribers have these unlocked immediately.
- Stage 2 - Unlock The Underfox Lobby Track and Outfoxed Wrap.
- Stage 3 - Unlock the Blizzard's Bite Pickaxe.
- Stage 4 - Unlock the Skulk Pack Back Bling.
- Stage 5 - Unlock the Volpez Outfit.
According to Game Rant, subscribers unlock a new stage on the last day of the month as long as they've got an active Fortnite Crew subscription.
Fortnite's v25.11 update will go live on June 27, meaning that the game's summer event kicks off on July 4 at 9 AM ET.
