[RUMOR] The Last of Us 3 Could Feature New Storyline, Characters

Ellie might not be playable in Naughty Dog's next entry to its The Last of Us series.

Leakers have recently revealed that The Last of Us 3 will allegedly introduce and focus on a different group of characters and a new playable character other than Ellie and her group.

Naughty Dog has yet to officially announce any details about The Last of Us 3, but the game and the live-action show's fans are restless in their search for anything related to the upcoming game.

Earlier this week, thanks to 'The Last of Us Part 2,' Naughty Dog took home seven trophies out of nine nominations during this year's Game Awards edition.

The Last Of Us 3 Leaks

The popularity of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us series has reached new heights since its live-action series' launch as an HBO exclusive. It made the game's story more accessible to those who haven't played the game yet, while simultaneously encouraging others to play it themselves.

Despite the live-action series acting as a distraction, many fans, old and new alike, are itching for what happens next to Ellie after the events of The Last of Us Part 2 - demand leakers gladly delivered to.

According to Reddit user DanielRPK's post in the r/GamingLeaksandRumors subreddit, Naughty Dog is allegedly working on The Last of Us part 3 already, and while the game is not in the writing board phase, it is already taking shape in the development phase, per IGN.

The leaks reveal that the game will tell the story of a group of scavengers surviving in a Victorian house that serves as their base located on the outskirts of a post-apocalyptic city.

The group comprises five characters, who are the following:

Lucas - an affable male that develops a relationship with another young scavenger and will eventually show his dark side
Val, the female leader of the group and, as IGN puts it, the one Lucas falls for
Ezra, a male who has ambitions of taking over the house of Val
Mason, a male who was formerly a soldier that must choose between his loyalty to Ezra and the house/group
Gracis, a young adult female who has no other details besides the ones given.

While details are scarce about the game as of press time, it is evident that Ezra is not on good terms with the rest of the group since he plans to steal the house from Val.

Ellie will make an appearance in the game as she has a role at least as big as she had in Part 2, though it is unclear if she will become playable at some point in the game.

The Last of Us Multiplayer?

While these leaks do spark some curiosity and hype for Naughty Dog's next game in the series, this game could be the multiplayer game Naughty Dog teased in mid-2022.

You may recall that game writer Neil Druckmann said that The Last of Us standalone multiplayer game would have its own story and that the way they would tell it would be unique to the game only. it would also feature a new cast of characters for players to follow and a location that is new to the series.

So far, the leaked info is similar to the one Druckmann revealed back in 2022, and as such, the game leakers described could be The Last of Us multiplayer game gamers have been waiting for since the release of The Last of Us Part 2.
