Google To Allow NFT-Related Apps and Games in Play Store

Google has announced a policy update that will officially integrate and regulate blockchain games and apps for Android. 

"Google Play hosts a variety of blockchain related apps, and we know that our partners are excited to expand on these offerings to create more engaging and immersive digital experiences with tokenized digital assets such as NFTs," Google wrote on their blog. 

The company has been playing around the idea of allowing NFTs for quite sometime now. However, they were able only able to release the guidelines and regulations now.

Google's Rules for NFTs 

Report for Decrypt showed that Google will allow NFTs to unlock in-app content regardless of where the NFT was originally purchased. 

However, Google was firm that blockchain app developers should provide a disclosure on its content page that their app is a blockchain. 

Moreover, Google does not allow any type of gambling such as NFT or crypto trading activities which is in accordance to the company's Real-Money Gambling, Games, and Contests policy.

Google Plays Future in Blockchain Technology 

The tech giant company assured that they will continue to communicate with the app develops to further understand the challenges and opportunities in blockchain technology. 

"Like with any emerging technology, we must balance innovation with our responsibility to protect users," Google promised. 

The rollout of the newly reformed policy on blockchain apps is slated to start by the end of 2023.
