CEO Ami Gan is Stepping Down from OnlyFans After Almost Three Years

OnlyFans has been one of the platforms that have grown exponentially in the past few years. Under the leadership of Ami Gan, it has thrived to what it is now. Despite the success, Ami Gan decided to pursue other roles and leave her position as the company's chief executive.

Ami Gan Leaves Her Role as CEO

The CEO is passing on her title to the company's Chief Strategy and Operations Officer (CSOO) Kelly Blair, after more than two and a half years. Gan stated that spending all that time as the company's leader has been beyond rewarding "while it echoed throughout the cultural zeitgeist."

Gan boasts of having the company collectively pay its creators $10 billion during her time as the OnlyFans CEO, with the company keeping 20% of the fee that is given to its creators by users, as reported by Tech Crunch.

As she moves on from her position in the company, Gan intends to take on new roles as she founded a marketing company called Hoxton Projects. The executive has expert knowledge in marketing, which fits as the new company "reimagines the agency paradigm."

She's also had the chance to use her expertise in marketing during her time at OnlyFans as she served as its Chief Marketing Officer. She also worked on communications for companies such as Quest Nutrition, Cannabis Cafe, Red Bull, and more.

The person taking over, Kelly Blair, has a useful background in data privacy law. Social media platforms have faced issues with organizations and governments due to their potential risks with sensitive data, so Blair's skillset will likely be useful with a platform like OnlyFans.

As Blair's position will become open, it will be taken over by one of the company's existing employees as well. Matt Reeder will be promoted to the role of the company's CSOO, who previously served as the Deputy General Counsel for OnlyFans.

The Success of OnlyFans

The site, like many others, has started out but has since grown especially during the pandemic when everyone had nothing to do but spend time online. It's also a platform where content creators can get direct payments from their viewers with the company getting their share.

As of June 2023, OnlyFans boasts over 210 million users. Around half a million people sign up on the platform every day, as mentioned in Earth Web, which just shows how much of a success it is even after the pandemic.

It has no shortage of content creators as well with approximately 2.1 million content creators. Although the average creator can sometimes only earn $151 a month, more known users can reach up to $100,000 per month for their content.

Only a small percentage of content creators make hundreds of thousands from the platform, which means that despite having over two million creators, the success rate is not as spread out evenly, which is also the case for most monetized sites.

An average account only gets around 21 subscribers. The company's subscription fee of $7.20 per month, which means that creators will multiply that by the number of followers they have. For instance, ten subscribers will get $72 per month.
