Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Trailer Shows Cool New Abilities for V

Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Phantom Liberty is so close to release. It's one of the most anticipated games for the latter half of 2023, and CD Projekt Red gave fans a peak at what to expect during the 2023 Gamescom Opening Night showcase, and it is awesome indeed.

Phantom Liberty: New Ways to Play

The trailer starts off with Mr. Hands speaking to V. He is one of the fixers in the game who operates mainly in Pacifica. Since the location of the DLC is in Dogtown, Pacifica, it makes sense that the player will be hearing from him in Phantom Liberty.

One of the most exciting changes in the game is the redesigned perks. There are several new skills that V can use in combat, both in melee weapons and firearms. One is the "bullet deflect," which allows you to hit an incoming bullet out of the way.

The perk "opportunist" shows playing a more gory finisher against enemies, while "savage fling" is similar to Thor and Loki's "get help" move where you throw an enemy into another. There's even a "deadeye" skill just like Arthur Morgan's from Red Dead Redemption II.

Those are just the perks. CDPR also included a new Relic Skill Tree that pushes V's limits like never before. One of them is called "spatial mapping," which lets you kill one enemy after another in just a blink of an eye.

The rumored vehicle combat has also been confirmed by the trailer. Not only can V shoot out of the car window without the game specifically prompting it, but players can also use their abilities as a netrunner to tamper with the controls of the enemy's vehicle.

V will have access to a variety of new guns, which based on the trailer are called Order, Grit, Warden, Osprey, Hercules, and Rasetsu. Mr. Hands might also give you a new vehicle, one that is built for the Badlands in order to escape a hunter.

According to the trailer, cars will have a mounted weaponry system, which supports that vehicle combat addition. Plus, CD Projekt Red might be bringing back the Arasaka Thermal Katana that was removed in the base game.

Plot of the Game

As you know from the base game, V is dying to due the Relic that holds Johnny Silverhand's engram taking over her brain. But, a new hope comes as a mysterious caller named Songbird offers V a way to save his/her life, in exchange for saving the NUS president.

President Meyer's Space Force One aircraft crashed in Dogtown, and V is tasked to get her out of the district alive. In certain missions, players will be fighting alongside Solomon Reed, a new character that is played by Idris Elba.

The narrative has fueled a lot of theories from the fanbase, particularly that of a new ending where V survives her ordeal and lives. With that said, there's a potential for a sequel, especially since CDPR is working on something called "Project Orion."
