Musk Confirms X Will Use Public Data for Training AI Models

A newly-released privacy policy on X, formerly Twitter, is allowing the usage of public data to train AI models, as confirmed by Elon Musk.

X Keeps Adding New Policies 

Earlier this week, Bloomberg reported a new policy change stating that they may collect the users' personal information and biometrics for "safety, security, and identification purposes." In addition, other information such as employment history, job preferences, educational background, and more can be collected by X for the purpose of giving personalized services and products to every users. 

A few days after, X News Daily announced that X has added a new policy which concerns the usage of personal data to "help train our machine learning or artificial models." 

Musk then turned to the platform and replied, "Just public data, not DMs or anything private," he clarified. 

Musk's Artificial Intelligence Arm, xAI 

Some netizens have commented that the data might be used for training Musk's xAI. Recently, the X-owner launched this new company as a way "to understand the nature of the universe." The guess might have an increased possibility as xAI already announced that they will be working closely with X. 

While there are no further explanation provided by X, users would just have to wait and see on how these collected data will actualize with Musk's plans for his companies in the future.
