Spotify to Implement Changes to Ambassador Ads Program

Spotify sent out emails to creators notifying that white noise podcasters will no longer be eligible for the Ambassador Ads Program. In addition, the company increased the audience threshold for eligibility. The podcast creators mush have at least 1,000 unique Spotify listeners within the past 60 days to qualify for the program.

In a Bloomberg report in 2022, it was revealed that white-noise podcasters can earn up to $18,000 monthly by running ads in Spotify. As of January, white noise podcasts accumulated over three million hours of daily Spotify consumption.

Spotify reportedly doing some changes as the company attempts to increase revenue by pushing listeners to consume more hours on talking podcasts rather than listening to repetitive music. It seemed that for now, Spotify identified white noise podcasts to be one of the factors for decreased revenue.

New Revenue Strategy for Spotify

Spotify confirmed that the company will be splitting the revenue in half with podcasters for ad placements. This will be an update as the company is known for its flat rate based on ad impressions.

Additionally, Spotify already follow-through the price increase trend on streaming platforms. Last July, the company implemented $1 increase to its premium account bringing the cost to $10.99 per month. Meanwhile, Spotify assured that these changes will let them improve their services and innovate for the development of its features.
