Home Assistant Celebrates 10th Anniversary, Launches All-in-One Smart Home Box

In celebration of a decade in the industry, Home Assistant introduced its all-in-one box, Home Assistant Green, which aims to provide a privacy-focused smart home for all.

Home Assistant Green 

The Home Assistant Green is powered by RK3566 quad-core GPU and 32GB eMMC storage, which ensures that the device will run smoothly without any issue. The unit is also equipped with 4GB LDDR4x RAM, USB 2.0 slots, HDMI out, and microSD slot for memory expansion. 

In a test run by The Verge, the green box is said to only run the Home Assistant Operating System. Moreover, the device is not built to be an all-purpose computer. 

The Home Assistant Green will be an additional to the current lineup that includes the yellow and blue boxes. The device is enclosed in a frosted plastic case with a metal base. In addition, a manual was also given for easy setup. 

How Does Home Assistant Green Works? 

To use the device, simply plug it and connect it to the router via ethernet. According to Home Assistant founder and CEO Paulus Schoutsen smart home devices should use ethernet. You can easily proceed through the process using the Home Assistant mobile app. 

"At that point users already know they want a smart home and are looking for solutions to their problems, which Home Assistant generally can solve," Schoutsen explained during an interview with The Verge

The Home Assistant Green is priced at $99 and is planned to be a permanent item along with the Home Assistant Yellow.
