NVIDIA Tegra Note 7 gets Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, enhanced stylus support, and more.

If you currently own an NVIDIA Tegra Note 7, a software update is available and adds significant features to the $199 stylus-packing tablet.

NVIDIA has released the first significant update for its very affordable Tegra Note 7 tablet the day after Christmas. The update provides a bump to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for NVIDIA's tablet. It also brings built-in stylus support for left-handers (finally). The company is well-known for its mobile processors that power many top tablets and smartphones, including Microsoft's recently-released Surface RT successor, the Surface 2, which uses a Tegra 4. However, NVIDIA wants to make a name for itself in the tablet market rather than solely focusing on making mobile processors.

Besides adding a nice bump up to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, NVIDIA is also providing a significant upgrade to the overall stylus experience on its tablet. Some rumors claim it's a step down from the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but overall the Tegra Note 7's new stylus functionality is a much-needed and welcomed update to come the day after Christmas. NIVIDIA also focues on the imaging capabilities of the Tegra Note 7. The camera, for instance, has a new feature that uses an always-on HDR function for the included 5-megapixel rear shooter. The company also claims that the Tegra 4 chip with Chimera computational photography architecture and new and advanced video stabilization features should provide end users with much better overall imaging quality functions and features to help you get the best picture possible on the Tegra Note 7.

Users will finally be getting a major feature requested since NVIDIA announced and subsequently released the tablet. This new update now finally allows you to store applications and application data files to be accessible via its built-in microSD expansion slot. This is a great feature for end users. NVIDIA posted the following to the company's blog announcing the OTA update and features.

"We've enhanced the Tegra Note stylus experience, adding support for left-handed users and improvements in overall response. We've also added a DirectStylus help option under the device setting's menu, a stylus removal and insert notification on the notification bar, and given users the ability to capture the notification bar with full-screen capture," explained the company.

"In addition to these new features, Tegra NOTE 7′s camera gets always-on high-dynamic range (AOHDR) capability, which provides more lifelike images across a range of lighting conditions. AOHDR utilizes Tegra 4's processing power and Chimera computational photography architecture. We've also added video stabilization for shake-free video, in addition to tuning and optimizations to improve camera performance under certain lighting conditions."

You can obtain this update by going into settings, tapping software update, let it install, reboot, and you've got a much better tablet than the one you started out with before the upgrade.
