Google Transfers Whiteboard Tools to Workspace

Google extended a transition process for the Jamboard users as a preparation for its upcoming ending. The company will integrate tools such as FigJam, Lucidspark, and Miro across the Google Workspace. This process will allow the users to use these tools when collaborating using Meet, sharing content with Drive, or even syncing schedules in Calendar.

In addition, the changes will be integrated on the Series One Board 65 and Desk 27 devices by Avocor. Hence, organizations with the device can visually collaborate during meetings with the help of a physical board and stylus. The integration is set to deliver by the end of 2023 until early 2024.

"We will provide a retention and migration path for Jamboard data so you don't lose any of the collaborative work that's been created within your organization," Google assured. Meanwhile, affected admins will receive more detailed instructions via email in the following weeks.

Google Jamboard Timeline

Google launched Jamboard in 2017 as a device to help teams visualize ideas while promoting collaboration. In addition to the device, teams can also use the Jamboard app to brainstorm remotely.

On September 30, 2024, all Jamboard device license subscriptions will end. Moreover, by October 2024, the Jamboard device will finally reach its Auto Update Expiration and will no longer receive security and feature updates. By December next year, all Jam files will no longer be accessible and will be permanently deleted.

As an alternative, Google is now promoting its Series One Board 65 and Desk 27 devices.
