Tesla Finally Has a Delivery Date for Its Cybertruck

Tesla's release of the Cybertruck has seen several delays since its announcement. But, the long wait is over since the EV company has finally put down a delivery date for the vehicle, which could happen in late November if all things go well.

Cybertruck Ready for Pickup

Tesla announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the futuristic-looking truck's delivery date falls on the 30th of November. A definitive date comes as a comfort to those who have been waiting for the truck to arrive after many delays.

The first deliveries will take place in an event at Tesla's Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. While that may look like good news for the company, Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that the first year for the Cybertruck will not be easy, as reported by The Verge.

Musk said that other than the production ramp-up for the Cybertruck being difficult, it might not be until after 2023 that Tesla could create its target production number for the vehicle, which will be about 250,000 Cybertrucks per year.

This has been a long time coming especially since it has been four years since the Cybertruck was announced. As for the delays, the pandemic played a huge part in why the production and development of the vehicle were slowed down.

In those four years, there was a two-year delay before the delivery date for this year. Originally, the company aimed to enter preproduction by 2021. Since then, there have already been other electric pickup trucks that have been released and can serve as competitors to the Cybertruck.

Tesla's Cybertruck

If you want to order Tesla's upcoming pickup truck early, you can pay a $100 reservation fee that's fully refundable in case you change your mind. The company describes the car as having "better utility than a truck with more performance than a sports car."

The vehicle is designed to protect its riders from outside forces. Its exoskeleton is made of Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless steel, along with Ultra-strong glass and polymer-layered composite that is able to redirect force from the impact.

The Cybertruck is able to carry up to 3,500 pounds payload capacity and adjustable air suspension, as well as lockable storage. It has six seats including the driver with additional storage under the second-row seats.

It is equipped with an advanced 17" touchscreen with an all-new customized user interface. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, which is in line with the company's claims of it having more performance than a sports car.

As for other utility capabilities, the truck can tow up to 14,000 pounds. According to Car and Driver, the price for the EV truck may change from its initially announced cost of $40,000 due to the inflation from the past three years.

With three electric motors available, the single motor can cost up to an estimated $60,000. The dual motor could reach up to $70,000, while the tri-motor can go as high as $80,000. With the uncertainty of prices, it bodes well for buyers that the reservation fee is refundable.
