Apple Updates iOS for Compatible Devices

The iOS 17.1 marks the first update for the current OS version. Along with new features, the update also brings bug fixes which were raised during the first release of the iOS 17. The update is now available to all recent iPhones that are capable of running iOS 17 such as models from 2018 and later.

It seemed that Apple centered the OS update with its Music app by expanding the favorites tab to songs, albums, and playlists. The company also added a filter that can display all your favorites in the library. A new cover art collection that can change colors according to the music is also included in the update. Lastly, song suggestions are now located at the bottom of every playlist to avoid disrupting your playlist.

On the other hand, the new AirDrop feature allows continuous transfer over the internet even when you step out of its range. Meanwhile, StanBy offers more options when the display turns off, however, this is only available for iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max models.

iOS 17.1 Brings More Updates

Aside from major upgrades, Apple also added a Home key support for Matter locks, an additional option to choose an album for Photo Shuffle on the lock screen, and improved Screen Time's reliability when it comes to syncing across devices. The company also fixed the issue of the resetting of Significant Location when transferring an Apple Watch or painting for the first time.

Other bug fixes such as resolving issues on seeing incoming caller's name, ringtones, keyboard, and display image persistence were also included in the update. In addition, crash detection optimizations were done for all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models.

Apple is most likely to enter developer and public beta testing for the next update, iOS 17.2 for the following months after the release of iOS 17.1.
